Dude that really sucks, I'm a senior so I didn't really think about that. Depending on the the school you could find an online tour, I actually think there is a website out there with a bunch all compiled together. Something that could help is trying to find someone who made KZbin videos at the schools you're looking at because if they exist those are incredibly helpful. Looking up day in my life, room/dorm tours, and interviews of specific schools were the most helpful to me. Both of these depend on people having made these resources so if neither exist for you my best advice is to use Google maps to at least get a look at the outside of campus. Or another thing I just thought of, I didn't do this but you could look up an Instagram or Facebook group for current students or alumni. I hope this wasn't too wordy and I hope some of these help you, good luck!!
@kitheedvne4 жыл бұрын
FilIrishKels this is very true. Since I can’t visit schools in that state, I’ve been watching college tours, dorm tours, “my experience at” videos, etc. KZbin is the closest that I could get to the real thing but in my opinion it’s better to hear students opinions anyway rather than seeing the forced reviews on the website.

Someone once told me if you’re deciding between two schools, make School A heads and make School B tails, then flip a coin and you’ll know which school you want to go to before it lands.
@maddy59933 жыл бұрын
on the flip a coin thing- one decision making advice that I've heard before is to flip a coin and then once you flip it, you'll know what you want to do based on weather or not you're happy with the results from the coin flip. Maybe something to try :)

1. Has to be the right fit for YOU and not for anyone else. 2. Has to meet some criteria/variables that you are setting for yourself. Important: professors, programs etc 3. Visiting colleges important. Ask them questions. Challenge them 4. Utilise online free resources (virtual tours, YT videos) 5. Talk to students on the campus. Are they helpful? What are the vibes? 6. Research the school deeply. Use the internet. What are the majors u r applying t and are they top notch? But dont be so steadfast on certain majors 7. Look at the financial aid packages u r given 8. Be open minded, dont have prejudices. 9. Ask for advice from adults in life but dont let them influence you too much

Flipping a coin could actually be good. Say Stanford was heads and UCLA was tails. If it lands on heads but you're not happy that it did and you're wishing it was tails, UCLA is your pick. If it lands on heads and you're happy and ready to go, that was the right choice

I am in 7th grade. I am not starting a college plan yet but I am setting a plan for high school so I have good enough stats so I can get into my dream schools. Tbh thinking of college really improved my academics. Like last year I would always get 3 A's and the rest B's. At one point I got a C. Now I am starting to think about college in 7th grade, and the marking period just ended and I got 6 A's and 1 B. For the first time, I got an A in science even though I usually get a REALLY low B by luck. The IVY schools that I want to go to are Brown, Columbia, Cornell or Dartmouth. Normal schools - STANDFORD :D, UCLA (maybe idk), and MIT. That's all I have for now... I am going to develop more as I get older. Right now I am choosing schools by the weather, the popularity, and the worth of the education and how it's going to help when applying to future jobs. For high school, I am mainly focusing on extracurriculars, AP's, and SSL hours. Right now in MS I am in Mintory Scholars, the theatre program, and I am a student ambassador and you have to get recommended to be that... so ye lol.

Hey, so I actually have a question about researching colleges. How do you know if a college has a “good” or “bad” program in any given field? Are there rankings? Is it just what people usually say? Do you look up the faculty, or read on their website? I’ve tried reading the websites but it’s honestly pretty hard to differentiate between them. (I’m interested in computer science)
@kevincaotong6 жыл бұрын
lily14130 There are rankings posted online, not on the school's website (even if it is, it's going to be biased to some degree). There are places like US Best Schools and other websites that rank the universities in certain areas, including computer science.
@anasajib30076 жыл бұрын

I need some advice (if you wouldn’t mind): I haven’t even applied to a school (I’m not a senior yet haha) and I already feel so discouraged. I’m a bad standardized test taker and my score is down right average (and for my standards, really bad.) I’ve been working my ass off to get it up and it recently went up 100 points (it went from unacceptable to mediocre) and I’m hoping to get a solid score in summer (even tho it’s such a stretch for me because I’m such a bad standardized test taker) but I’m just feeling hopeless. I’ve worked my entire life (literally since I was 4) to get into my dream schools. I have a 4.0, am 4th in my class at the time being, am in so many extra-curriculars, am an athlete, and artist and am extremely passionate about what I want to major in but I will never be as “good” or as accomplished as you or anybody else whose getting into the schools I’ve dreamt of going to... not to mention financial aid or scholarships . I’m not #1 in my class, I’m not the smartest person ever, I’m not some super accredited student, athlete, etc and am so mediocre compared to really anyone at your school or any of the top universities even though I work just as hard (if not harder in some cases.. I literally have to be told by my teachers to stop because I push myself to much). How do I stay positive when I’m so below the par?
