Simplicity clarifies everything. I love taking complex things and breaking them down into smaller parts to see their inner workings. You cannot forego the simplest concepts because they are the fundamentals of logic and reality. Just like in math, you need to master +, -, *, \ before you can move on to higher levels. Another example of simplicity is in business. If you have credit card debt at say 20% APR, pay that off first with the same money before trying to invest in the stock market. Extremely difficult to guaranty a 20% gain in investment.

Simplicity gives us the opportunity to spend more time with ourselves and see what it is we need to work on…. One thing that always stands out as a important quality to me is being comfortable in my own skin…so even when life has slowed down to a almost dead stop or it seems to be going a hundred miles per hour I still want to feel grounded enough to remember to be grateful for everything and live and embrace the present moment even if it’s not exactly what I would want …even when I have days that nothing seems to be going right I still smile and express happiness to myself and everything around me because I choose too…I believe God gives everyone the right to be happy and it’s a choice not a situation

There are two things that I feel I have definitely learnt from simplicity. First is contentment. I am happy with what I have and been grateful for those that provide me with joy. I am still climbing that mountain, getting accustomed to a simple life. Though I yearn to achieve more, but I believe it to be gained through hard work. And second, to stop comparison with others. There's a lot I wish to learn from simple living. I love the natural surroundings you chose to shoot for your video. Thank you for your insights, Holly 😊.

@@SuperSiddhu thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences too here! I completely agree with everything you've said and that it is a case of adjusting to these things as and when we discover them! I liked how you said that people forget the exact things you said, but they'll remember the memories you had together. Sometimes, life feels sad, because it might feel like you don't have things that last, but still, some pieces of things do last and it's always random. Like, one person might remember one aspect of what you did and someone else might remember some other detail. Either way, we're constantly spreading memories and influences to people and it just gets lost. But, isn't that the point of life? To live our lives doing things we know are going to get lost, but we do it anyway, because we can and because it's our way of making (a hopefully positive) mark in this universe. Thank, Holly.

I think it’s because the simple moments are often the most profound. The memories that stick with me the most are ones where I’ve found myself in a beautiful place or somewhere where either the light and shadow hit something a certain way or the atmosphere creates a certain feeling. It’s akin to the sublime but that word implies the grandeur of nature and our smallness in it. I’ve never really found the word that describes it. It encompasses a sense of peace and fleeting timelessness, a sense of quiet connection with the world and sometimes serendipity that you’re in the right place, at the right time. It’s quite a nebulous feeling so I’m not finding it easy to describe but sometimes in these moments, a spark of inspiration might hit or you’ll get an insight into something you’ve been mulling over for a while and it suddenly clicks and makes sense. Or it doesn’t - but you just sit there and absorb the moment. If you’re too wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of life, you’ll miss these moments and it’s often in these moments that you grow. Or as a very wise man once said: “Life moves pretty fast. You don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” 😁 Also, in the video, you’re kinda walking near where I went to secondary school!😯

Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts here 😊 What a wonderful way to summarise and describe the true beauty of simplicity. I often judge an idea or philosophy by its outcome and so usually what the end provides is the proof that I need. The hardest part is when the outcome takes a very long time to manifest.
@lagomholly7 ай бұрын
I understand what you mean! But I think part of it is the experience of discovering the ‘proof’ and cultivating your own ideas in the process🤷♀️ Sometimes I’ve come to think a particular philosophy resonates with me, but after certain experiences it’s often not worked out the way I initially thought but actually better😊

Beautiful video Holly :-) you've really got cooking down to an art, that raspberry cake looks so delicious! Love what you said about one day at a time, it can be so easy to get caught up in the worries of the next day or the next week that we forget to live and enjoy the present moment. We can get so caught up in doing that we forget about the being, there's a bible verse that sums it up perfectly for me which is, "Be still, and know that I am God.." (from Psalm 46:10). There's a real beauty in simplicity and stillness, nature reflects this when we look at the still waters of a beautiful lake, it shows us how peaceful it is to just slow down :-)
