Explorative haircare and skincare - this is most definitely a category where I do not need to buy anything in 2024! If I run out of something completely, fine. Otherwise it's a no.

I love buying books because I share and trade them with my daughter, neighbors and friends. There’s nothing more satisfying than having someone over and seeing a book I loved and letting them have or borrow it.

For the past two years I have been having my closets all professionally installed where I design them. I only have two more closets to do and then I will be done. I am not a hoarder by any means, but I enjoy the spaces that I have created. I believe that if you have a place for every item in your home you will put it back once you had used the item. I saved up cash to have them all done. This is where I have saved and spent my extra money on. I will be getting the last two done soon. I have plenty so I do not need to buy clothes, shoes, pocketbooks or any toiletries. Except the essentials. I love a super clean and well-organized home. That is very important to me. I am 70 years old, so I feel I deserve this. I was a nurse working on a surgical floor during my younger years. I do belong to a YMCA. I swim 3/4 times a week for 1 1/2 hours. I am in good shape, and I say exercise and health is my number one priority. My membership is what keeps me moving forward.

Whenever I see videos speaking about money. I always wish people knew what I knew about money and how it’s not so difficult to hit your financial target if you know the right steps to take. Honestly, I see Not making upto a million before retirement as an unfulfilled retirement. I’m 54 and my wife is 50 . We are both retired with over $3million in net worth and no debts. Currently living smart and frugal with our money. No longer putting blames on the FED for our misfortunes. Saving and investing lifestyle in the stock market made it possible for us this early. Even till now, we earn weekly.

I feel one Of the greatest challenges that we first timers face in the ma rket is that we end up losing all we have,making it difficult to find ourselves back to our feet. My biggest advice is to always seek the services of a professional just like I did when I ventured into it for the first time. Big thanks to Larysa Caba. I now make huge profits by weekly through her services while still learning to stand on my own.

I have never seen a trader as open and transparent as Larysa Caba with her clients. The way she decides to make a profit for her clients. she allows you to express your fears and she still rests your fears and that is my respect. I don't normally comment on videos, but this word should be included. she is really cool.

Last few years I prefere audio books. I can't read the books without glasses anymore + it's time consuming. So I listen a lot while cooking (I prefere homemade meals) and doing my chores at home. And I trim my hair myself - I wasn't at hairdresser quite long time.

A number of thoughts come to mind after watching your video… Not necessarily a No-Buy for me but parameters set to curb my spending habits. For skin & hair products - I was told years ago that I should stick with one brand and not mismatch products from various brands (exp: Oil of Olay or Dove) plus give your hair or skin time to accumulate to the new products if you do switch. This may not work for everyone but has worked well for me as I am no longer tempted to try the latest, greatest miracle products. If I have purchased an item and found it did not work for me, I do not keep the item in my home. An example would be body soap that I tried with a new fragrance - same manufacturer as my prior body wash but a different scent. I found I did not care for the scent once used. I gave the product to my daughter to use instead of letting it take up space in my home or throwing it out. When wanting to purchase an item that I deem as nonessential, I list the item, date and price. After 30 days, if I still want the item, I can purchase it…but it has to be paid for in cash. Curb on-line shopping by doing a no-spend period (week, month, etc.) and you can revisit items after 30 days. For example, I found something I want on Amazon. I put it on my Amazon wishlist and noted it on my “30-Day Hold” list. In 30 days, I will revisit the list to see if I still want the item. I have some items that have remained on the list for months and some I have removed entirely without purchasing. My own “not buying” goals for 2024 are: No clothes - new or second hand No cleaning products until I’ve used up what I have on hand (Am I the only one who still has “pandemic purchases” of cleaning products left? 😉) No sugary food/snack items - I can still have them but only if it is outside of my home (and no, the porch doesn’t count as outside 😂), such as social events. I am a binge eater when it comes to sugary items and will binge on them until they are gone. It is better to keep them out of my home altogether. No credit card purchases unless it is an absolute necessity (big ticket items such as furniture, large appliances, etc.) On-line shopping limited to once a month using the 30-Day rules above. Freezer/Pantry cooking starting January 1, until the majority of my food/protein sources run low (my freezer is packed!) The purpose is not to deprive myself but to revamp my shopping habits.

Love your whole statement! You're right, it's not about depriving but about making sure everything gets used and freeing up space. I tend to buy food in large quantities if it's a very good sale. At home I have almost no space to put things away. I really want to change this! And I also do have large amounts of cleaning products 😂 Using things up is the way to go. And if I really don't like something I plan on giving it to friends/ family immediately so it doesn't sit around and go bad and give me bad feelings.

+stowie7733 I've actually done some research abt. shampoo/conditioner products where you're allowed to mix different brands as long as you don't have dandruff or an itchy scalp. Ex: The shampoo & conditioner in the same brand say aren't the same price. Let's say you can get a shampoo for a cheaper/more affordable option in 1 brand and the conditioner at a cheaper/more affordable option in a diff. brand tho. Also, I know everyone's different esp. depending on one's work schedule so I know not everyone will be able to do this, but I personally go to about 4 different stores for affordability reasons rather than say spending upwards to abt. $200-$300 for 2 people. I got lucky where I'm thankful my mom sometimes pays for my food and I managed to get enough food to last us at least 2 weeks if not 3 at just about $106. In order to do this, you have to *find* the right stores in terms of affordability. For some it's easier to pay extra, but if you live within reasonable distance to other grocery stores-which I happen to be lucky here too-I'd recommend trying it out. Turns out going to multiple stores not just for affordibility purposes, I get that from my maternal grandpa because apparently he did the same thing too which isn't always a bad thing. Ex: I understand if some grocery stores are say 15-20+ mins. apart from one another...but say if you have abt. 3-4 maybe 5 different stores within abt. 5, maybe 10 mins. of one another, try going to at least 3 of them. I also do my research for those who have website (e.g. Target, Safeway, etc...). Honestly, I remember seeing a video of how a mom manages to only spend $100 on groceries for a family of 4 people meaning her, her husband and their 2 kids. And for me that's impressive to spend that little for a family of 4. In terms of groceries tho, I think for some of us, our issue is we don't always spend it on healthy food to cook. I understand lazy days and wanting something easy, but on say a 24/7 basis: No, like that's not healthy. Do I need ice cream? No. But if it's on sale for a really good deal and a brand I rarely buy, then yes, I'll buy it. My biggest issue: Actually, gift-giving throughout an entire year rather than saving it for special occasions.
@cicicave1279
@cicicave1279 4 ай бұрын
+stowie7733 I also know my other issue: Bath and Body Works since that's how some if not most of us girls are/can be. But it's like "a deal's a deal" esp. when it comes to that store. I try my best not to go there on a whim where I try to plan that out accordingly and when my stores are planned out, I try to use Cash for nearly everything now. What's actually helped me is having Cash envelopes. Ex: I have 1 for Rent, I have another one for Gas, another one for Groceries, and another for Misc. Expenses (coffee shops, clothes, haircut, etc), but the Misc. $ is ONLY I have enough leftover in the Budget. Also, even if it may seem like there's leftover $ to spend and/or splurge on yourself-make sure you're not in debt first because that should be a top priority for everyone that's in it to get out of it. Also, credit card interest rates NEVER help anyone in these situations esp. when they're extremely High. An ex: The more you use your credit card, the more you're really paying into Interest on that Card alone if/when you have such a High Interest including increasing amounts in minimum payments rather than the minimum payment amount staying a flat amt. no how much you use the card. The more I look at my own minimum payment on my credit card, the more & more it makes me peeved off and for me is: "Am I more mad at How HIGH the Interest rate on the card itself is?" Or "am I more mad at and with myself for not doing anything sooner about it?" But the higher my min. pmt. gets just makes me even angrier tbh.

The explorative hair and face products is one I’m working on. I already have stuff I love, I’m not sure why I keep looking for something more. I’m being way more intentional about having a signature style. I feel like sticking with the same products that work very well for me is in line with that.

Hmm, none of these are things I ever buy, but made me think. I do like buying a lot of storage products and should just declutter instead. I also buy too many new clothes for my young child. He has enough ( I probably do this because i find it hard to buy clothes for myself. Nothing looks good on me). We might have to update our computer this year, but this will involve getting the IT guy to update the internal harddrive again. Saves sending perfectly good materials to landfill. And im with you on buying things on a whim!

@@Ada-il2mj I bought a yearly planner, and on each day, I wrote "decluttered" and "bought". On the things that I bought, also wrote where I bought it, Amazon, Target for example. On the things that I decluttered I wrote if it was trash on donation. At the end of each month, I counted how many things I bought and how many that I decluttered. It helped me see what my buying habits were and reminded me what I decluttered and that showed me that I really am making progress! I got this idea from Vera on Simple Happy Zen.

You point out some great things. I hold back a lot, consequently I find myself needing a few things. Having said that I still think about what I am buying and once bought I certainly get my money's worth as I wear something to death or use the phone or computer for long time before replacing them. When we become intentional about our spending we typically take longer to make a decision about purchasing and many times it means not buying it at all. It is a good thing, we don't need so many things. However, there is always room for improvement.

I just paid off a credit card so I'm not going to be using that unless an emergency occurs. I'm going to be doing a low buy year in 2024. I did so much decluttering over the past year that I don't want to accumulate anything unless I am absolutely certain I need it. So for the new year there will be: No new clothing purchases unless it's to replace something that is worn out or damaged. No plants. I can always propagate from plants that I already own if the temptation arises. No new books because I started using the public library after many years of not doing so. I also discovered that they have free passes for things around town so thats another perk. I have a few tips to control my spending this coming year- To not be tempted to purchase from online shops is to go in and remove your card information from the site itself. This way when you go online if you have to go and get the card, manually put the information in every time to shop you'll be less likely to buy anything. Remove social media and the search engine from your phone home screen. Scrolling and searching are what temp you to buy in the first place and if your access isn't so direct you'll be less likely to be online so often. I recently made some purchases from my wish list and then my inbox became inundated with ads to tempt me to buy unnecessary products. Solution? Unsubscribe. If I already purchased what was on the wish list why continue getting emails from the company?
