I've lived in the South 95% of my life. I moved to Seattle and had to leave places like this behind. I was on a business trip to Nashville, and a good friend of mine was my coworker and he's lived in Seattle his entire life. We got off the plane and to the hotel, and if by some miracle there was a waffle house and a Cracker Barrel flanking our hotel. I got to introduce him to both of them. So we got off the plane late, so we hit Waffle house around midnight. Then hit Cracker Barrel the next morning. That man ordered Grandpas country fried breakfast and had his first Chicken fried Steak. He called his wife while we were eating to just gush about the meal and how nice our waitress, and that he bought one of those giant checkers games to play with his kid. He just had the greatest time. Thanks Cracker Barrel, you rock.

@@Finn_Anwarunya I think the problem was that in addition to that fact, we were eating it at some random state, as we were literally in the middle of a move. It is a pleasurable memory for me not just for the food, but because I hated the six months I had to live in IL, and was excited to finally move back to my native homeland of Texas, where we all had a more traditional, but belated Thanksgiving with all my relatives who were still alive or hadn’t moved away yet.
@UmmYeahOk2 жыл бұрын
@@DeathnoteBB good point. A great example is my mother’s worst Easter experience. …Well, depending on where the COVID lockdown one ranks. I was 5, and we moved over Easter holiday. We spent it in a hotel, but I got my very own room that was joined to my parents room via a private door which I thought was very cool. I remember waking up to find nestle crunch eggs “hidden” all over my room, and one of those prewrapped Easter basket bundles that I had always admired in the stores. The Easter bunny had always hidden plastic eggs with candy inside, but this time, which was the only time, I guess he was rushed. As an adult, I know those saran wrapped prearranged baskets are cheap and not anywhere as good as what I usually got, but as a kid, I loved it, and even today my own daughter will admire them and wished she had them over the nice expensive ones. Kid logic: I don’t remember ever feeling sad that we even had to move, or had to experience that holiday in a hotel room. For whatever reason, that one single time, it simply felt normal. And not only were those two changes a positive one for me, but remember, I was five. I didn’t really know it was Easter until I woke up and it was there. The Easter Bunny had found me!!! How? How did he know I had moved across the country?! It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if we had Cracker Barrel for Easter Lunch (something had to be open). I just don’t remember because all 5yo me could think about was how cool it was that the Easter bunny still visited. Adult me wonders if the hastily nestle crunch eggs and prewrapped basket bundle was all that could be found that night on arrival. I mean, clearly my parents were too busy with the move to go shopping.

My Momma's ex husband was a General Manager of a Cracker Barrel in Tennessee when I had just turned 12 years old. I would love it whenever he came to get me from school, and I'd do my homework in the dining area where it wasn't busy, and I'd order me a big ole' plate of sausage biscuits, and I'd keep them coming, because that, and their bread pudding were my favorites. I remember that they let my Momma have the Cracker Barrel cookbook use by the cooks, so she could work her mathematical genius magic, and make just enough for me, or all 3 of us to eat. Years later, I took my daughter to Cracker Barrel whenever we went on vacation to a lodge in the North Georgia Mountains where my people were from, and she loved it, and she got so upset once when we were on vacation, and she got a tummy bug, and couldn't finish her little soup. I did buy all the Stewart's Diet Orange Cream Soda and Root Beer, and her the Stewart's regular Root Beer for our room, and when I moved to the West Coast, and they finally built a Cracker Barrel, I was so shocked that they didn't have sausage and biscuits anymore! A couple of years later they no longer served Stewart's diet anything, and they even started serving alcohol! That just really got to me, and my great memories of Cracker Barrel, because of all the restaurants to serve alcohol, why choose Cracker Barrel? I loved getting a Stewart's Diet Orange Cream soda whenever I went there, and then bring some home as a treat to myself, and I liked that they didn't serve alcohol too. Times have certainly changed that's for sure.

I actually just went to a Cracker Barrel for the first time today. The food was great! The store was great (too much good stuff)! The atmosphere and the decor were great! Not only was the staff super great...the hostess actually looked and sounded a lot like Liz, which brought this video to mind! (🤣 I really wasn't expecting that! I almost laughed out loud, when the memory of the video popped in my head just then!!! 🤣)

Anytime we did a road trip that was my grandmother's favorite place .. She would always come home with something from the store

I love Cracker Barrel! Sometimes they have the coolest stuff in the store. The Mac and Cheese is good but the Cheesy Hash browns are the BEST!! My best friend knew where all the CB’s were on our road trips. We always stopped for breakfast (or lunch or dinner🤣). Sadly, she passed away last year. I just hope she found the big CB in heaven! With dogs…❤

i saw a video once about a tavern in the UK that has a dog as the regular greeter, i think he's a White Shepherd, a variation of German Shepherd that has pale fur; he basically does the rounds saying hi to everyone; i think it's also a dog-friendly tavern, like ppl can bring their dog there for special treats

@@CorvusCorone68 Most pubs in the UK allow well behaved dogs in. They sit quietly at their owners feet. We were assigned there in the late 80s with the AF. I always thought that was very cool.

I was surprise by the alcohol myself this summer. Tried the jack daniels peach beer which honestly was more a wine cooler than anything but it was good. Oh and no mention of the reusable bags? They are the best when grocery shopping and each season there’s new designs.

This looks like what my Aunt Nancy would think heaven looks like - LOL! We always do Cracker Barrel on road trips. First order of business is run to the restroom...which you always know where it is. Then see how long the wait is going to be and shop before or after the meal, depending. And if I need more Wildcats gear, I have to wait until we are in a Kentucky Cracker Barrel.

I used pick up catering from CB this past Thanksgiving. I WILL do it again! Saved me so much time and it was delicious!❤️
The secret to the peg game is on a paper with the game you buy. Giant checkers eliminate choking hazzard for the lil' chil'ren. The stuff hanging up that looks like treasures from a farm auction should be part of a game. The game is as follows. At your option, the manager randomly picks 25 items and if you can correctly identify them all you get a free meal but miss one and you pay double your check.

For the longest time, I thought you could buy the antiques. My mother said no, you can't. I asked, then why are there price tags hanging from the them? She said they were probably inventory tags, but definitely not price tags.
@johnthomasjr2622 жыл бұрын
@@kerim.peardon5551 I tried to buy a lard press that was beside the table I was at and once they realized what I was talking about they said no. So the tags are to keep track of everything because the staff would probably never know what things are or if they were gone.

My best Cracker Barrel story is when I was reading the menu and noticed a drink called the Black Cherry. It was just a cherry spirit. But I'll never forget that I asked the waitress "tell me about your Black Cherry" the mistake was that my waitress was black.

That darned peg game! I’ve never beat it, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try it 60 times before we leave. Do the giant checkers turn into frisbees after dark? If not, there’s no good reason for them to be that big.
