I'm 29 and single, and completely fine staying that way if I don't find someone I really love, trust and respect. I love kids, so the plan is to adopt in the next couple of years even if I'm not married. When I mention this to people - and mind you, these are my closest friends and family - they are genuinely sad and even aghast at the idea. Something like that is virtually unheard of here...during those conversations is the only time I ever think it might be better to live a little further north....

Also most of my friends who are married are miserable, I can only think of one couple that I know is truly happy. "The stats say that 3 out of 4 marriages could fail and yet people still get married! I've had many women tell me "Oh, you are so lucky you never married."
@SirMoeThe2nd4 жыл бұрын
@@babbetteduboise4284 Haha, yep. I've heard that and many other things. "My wife is crazy," "I can't stand him," "she's just being a bitch." One guy who I thought was happily married, then at a party I was kinda hitting it off with this girl, but I was tired, and didn't wanna go out and get condoms (just being honest, lol.) So I was like "ok, nice talkin I'll seeya." My happily married friend was asking if he could talk to her, I said "dude, you're gonna cheat on 'Wife's Name'?" Jokingly of course. Then he said, and I quote, "fuck it I always cheat on her." Two other guys there laughed, one of which was also married. Marriage, it's a trip, carnal!

I'm male, but one time a female colleague jokingly invited me to tag along to her "Ladies' lunch" since I knew everyone there anyway. I said no, I had better things to do than to listen to a group of women bitch about their husbands for an hour. She said, "Hey, that's not the only thing we talk about! [pause] Well..."

Married and divorced before 40 here! My favorite on living together before marriage (which I did) was "it's a bad idea; what if you find out you can't stand each other?" The person who said that couldn't explain why finding that out after marriage would be preferable.

I'm 2x divorced before 40 (1st one lasted a year, and I was in my early 20s lol) and I'm probably more overly cautious now, then I was before 40

If things had gone a little differently that could have been me. I realized it wasn't working 3 years in but it took far longer to get where I had any support to get out. I'm engaged again. I had a period of "I will never marry again" but changed the stance because I met someone wonderful, who gave me room to heal, and we decided on it for next of kin reasons.
