I’m girl on my dads account and I have two catcalling stories One was my dad used to do a lot of physical work and girls used to catcall him. I said that was very different because if I’m being catcalled, 90% of the time the guy could easily overpower me. My dads pretty strong, and most girls are much smaller, so it would be harder for them to overpower him. So whereas he wouldn’t have to be scared, I do. Second: I play a sport that has a girls and boys team. One day we teamed up, and about midway through the practice the coach of the boys team, who was a girl, called them all over. A lot of the girls were worried we were in trouble. She started talking to the boys about how they were apparently making inappropriate comments..... a lot of us girls were silently cheering her on because while we were running, the football team would constantly be yelling stuff to us that wasn’t nice or supportive but was inappropriate. So thank you Mrs. R and all teachers who fight catcalling.

YESSS. Someone finally acknowledged my pain. Long hair IS hard to maintain. Why can't my parents understand that? They've made me grow out my hair since I was 3, not letting me cut it or even trim the split ends. My hair is discolored, rough and has split ends all over and it takes me two effing hours to wash it. But hey. Mom gets to brag about her daughter's knee length hair to her friends. 'It's fine if the trophy ain't shiny, it's still a trophy' All I ever wanted for 7 consecutive birthdays is to get a haircut, ideally to my chin but noooo. She grounded me for a two weeks because once I got my hair stuck in a cylindrical hair brush and was forced to cut it while I was at my aunt's. She grounded me for a month and a week after I cut side bangs when people started making fun of my forehead. And she yelled at me so much when I told my aunt the first thing I would do on my 18th birthday is chop off all my hair.
@ihopeicanchangethisnamelat71083 жыл бұрын
My mum always says “everyone at school has long hair and I don’t want you to be the only one not wearing your hair down”. No they don’t. Half the girls at my school have their hair above elbow-length, a large proportion have it cut short, and some have shaved sides. It’s not that drastic for me to want my hair a couple inches shorter. Also, I used to have a problem with compulsively pulling out my hair. I was fairly young at the time and I managed to stop, mostly thanks to my mum yelling that I was going to end up bald every time I touched my hair, but now, years later, I have a clump of hair which is shoulder-length in my otherwise waist-length hair. I can only wear my hair in a high ponytail or French plait because if I don’t tie that chunk of hair back it sticks up and makes me look ridiculous, so it’s not like I would be able to have my hair down anyway. And if I did get my hair cut, my mum would still be able to tell everyone about her daughter’s hair because my sister’s hair reaches her legs, is blonde and wavy AND she can wear it down without looking ridiculous.

@melaniezirixa12393 жыл бұрын
I can totally understand the walking home at night stuff as well as transit. I've started to loose count how many times I have been asked out on public transit alone!!! It's creepy and very uncomfortable. For example, when your umbrella accidentally slips and falls on the tile floor in the subway station right infront of a guy and you apologize for it falling in the way, and then he sits down next to you, tells you he just recently got out of jail, tells you how good you look and that he likes (your size/type of women), and tries to get you to go out with him. Then he follows you onto the train you are taking whether or not he actually needs to catch that train. Thankfully he didn't try to talk to me again and I think he got off before I did, but still. Had another sort of incident happen recently where I was sitting in the train looking out the window, paying attention to everything, going to my stop when out of the corner of my left eye I see this guy walk up and "sit down" across the aisle. I had a bad feeling about him (like if I acknowledge him he will all me out type feeling and to not talk to him). So I turned my head to look out the window to my right. Then he gets up and moves to infront of me (where I had been looking) so I casually look to where he had been. He said something to me or asked me something, but I couldn't hear it over the train noises and my headphones, so I played it if as if I couldn't hear. He gave a kind of like "MAN that didn't work sound/noise" and then went to the front and said/asked something from some of the other passengers who where all male (I think it was for money/change, but my gut told me not to risk it). Since if my thoughts afterwards went something like this: why did he come to me first instead of another male passenger? Did he only go to them because I did not acknowledge him? would something bad have happened if I had acknowledged him? Lord, Please don't let him follow me to my bus! (Thank you Lord that he stayed on the train). I'm pretty sure majority of guys do not have that problem. (FYI I've been asked out on transit by guys that where 40-50+ years older than me. Basically old enough to possibly even be my grandfather!!! He even asked for my phone number, which I did not give him).

when i was younger like maybe 12 years old, i went to walmart with my mom, and my 19 yr old sister. when we made it to the fruit aisle there was this man in baggy clothes maybe around his mid 50s who was just standing there in the middle of the aisle staring at us creepily. my mom realized and i hid behind my sister cause i was scared because he had his hand in one of his pockets as there was something in his pocket. he looked like he didnt blink once at us but just stood there watching me. i got chills and i turn around and then turned around back at him to see if he was gone and he slowly walked away. i might be overreacting to this but i was so scared back then.

I have 2 experiences 1. Walking home from school with my friend. It was 2:56 and there still lots of cars and school kids walking home and it was a rainy day. A car pulls up and there were 4 males inside. They said "do you wanna get in the boot" They did this multiple times in broad daylight and just laugh it off 2. At CBD in Victoria a middle aged man said to me and my friend during daylight hours "hey girls, you wanna have some fun" This was during an excursion where we had to go to the city for a week in our school uniform. We ran so fast, I swear I would have had an asthma attack had I not been in this situation

I was walking with my partner to the park. I'm a female btw. I didn't feel safe as the area they lived had bad crime rates... I felt like we were being watched. I begged them to go home. Yes, I agree with the creepy people following. Once, I decided to walk home alone from school. My house wasn't far away, it was just a few blocks to my right. I still didn't have my drivers license, so I didn't have a car, either. Nobody went to pick me up. It was still sunny, and hot, so I decided to go get some ice cream first just to cool down a bit. On the way, this man came up to me in his car, offering me a ride to wherever I wanted to go. I knew I shouldn't talk to strangers, or accept any offers, so I just ran away. However, he kept following me. I started to panic, and once I ran inside a store, I told them to call the cops. It turned out that guy was an uber, and somebody stole his uber car. He had to use this suspicious, black car instead. He took me home, and I rushed to mom, telling her what happened and that I never wanted to walk home from any place alone. In fact, I know have trust issues and am terrified to be near people I don't know just in case they are bad. *But...I guess some people who look bad aren't bad...so I better look out. 01:45- As an Asian Muslim (and in Islam, cleanliness plays a big part), we have a LOT of toilet hygiene awareness. Even if we are DYING to go to the toilet in a public place, we will put some tissue around the toilet seat. Since in non-Muslim public places, they don’t have lottas, so we dampen a tissue as a substitute for a bucket of water or we use an empty water bottle, fill it up with water and wash ourselves with it. It’s much cleaner than using a dry tissue so I advise you to search up how to use a lotta and buy one for your home!
