I had no idea that my issue with noise was ADHD related. Mechanical / industrial sounds drive me demented! I moved from a city of 6.5 million to a avillage of 200. The noise followed me! Thank you so much for your videos. They have helped me understand myself and be kinder to myself.

For me, as long as the noise is a steady, predictable noise I'm mostly okay. But that's what sucks about neighborhoods- one person starts mowing, everyone begins mowing.

Or the lawn mowers can go one after another so the noise goes on endlessly! Rather than get it over all at once. But often it's the not knowing how long for, or when, that causes most stress.. it does help (me, anyway) having company such as here, who also notice & who mind / get distracted by it .. 🙄... 🤗❤

Oh, gosh, YES! Mechanical sounds, loud cars, loud sport venues, etc.. Can only do concerts IF I'm absolutely in love with the band/musician!!!

Leaf blowers are what really get me. What's worse is when they've stopped and you think you are in the clear, however, no such luck.

I also hate background noise! The worst thing is that other people often don’t even notice it

Unless the neighborhood uses nothing but leaf blowers in autumn. Then it's noisy AND you get to walk through all the pollution it stirs up.

Leaf blowers are my peeve. Not only are they incredibly loud, they are kind of pointless. The leaves blow back eventually - just rake and bag them!

I looked up the silence in Norway, found out that waterfalls and birds also can make a lot of noise. So I live on the port of Antwerp, there is always backgroundnois. I did manage to change that noise in my mind into waterfallsounds and now i don’t hear it anymore. I still hate barking dogs and leaveblowers, so still trying.

I moved off-grid, far away from the loud noises of Memphis. It is very quiet out here in the boonies. Leaves rustling in the wind. Soft wind chimes. The occasional bovine chorus. Heavenly. Until.... 🔫B A M‼️😳 A lot of hunters live out here. We hear rapid fire, too.

Yup. 😂😩 I once lived in an area i called "The Land Of A Thousand Lawnmowers". Starting at 7am every weekday AND weekend.* Drove me bonkers until i would switch my focus onto some project or task. -- which always solved it. But those moments of bonkers -- resist. Urge. To. Unalive. Every neighbor within 100 miles! * - a blessing cuz you have the problem of the lawns always looking really nice around you (Seriously not the worst problem to have - versus living next to horrible even scary lawns and properties, etc). -- A curse because all around you are retired old men who habe nothing else to do then obsess about (and j*rk off to, and compete for) their perfect lawns. One neighbor (old, bitter, disabled but not for lawncare, retired male) actually said to me "all I've got is my lawn and my grudges". Thinking that was funny. But what did that make me and other people? We're not his lawn, so.... everyone's automatically one of his grudges? 🤔🤨 Also, I worked long hours and hated having to watch my lawn become not unkempt but definitely the longest in the neighborhood. Even with a better work schedule, it would've still been impossible to keep up. 😩 I imagined they all had an app to let them know when their lawn has grown a micrometer above the ideal height they preferred, therefore requiring an immediate mow.

Noise, my worst enemy. I once said (during an insomnia episode) "i going to kill that stupid bird" It was 5 A.M. and wanted to sleep. Diagnosed just 8 months ago (My OCD kept it hidden from the doctors)

Amphetamines are important useful molecule’s! As Tony Tiger says, They’re Grrrrreat! They even keep some people from committing suicide, homicide or both! So lets keep in mind how important medications can be for some of us & stop demonizing, scapegoating & stereotyping people who use them.

Since starting ADHD meds I am sooooo much less sensitive to sound and light and have been able to reduce my daily migraine prevention medication by half! It has been so freeing 😁 (right now I am visiting and I want to take a sledgehammer to the box in the garage that is beeping faintly but regularly, audible from the living area 🤬)

I've known for a while that people with ADHD or highly sensitive people or INFJs are very sensitive to noises. (I'm all of the above, wish me luck in life😅). Yesterday I was with a friend in a very very busy square, with noisy trams around us, people shouting, cars, children, dogs - a nightmare, in somma. And this friend kept talking to me, in a very low voice, showing me pictures, not paying attention to anything around - I thought "Woman, read the space, adapt to what is around!!!" But then I suddenly decided to let go and abandon any need of control and correction: I felt my body relax and decontract immediately, felt a sort of well being. It might be the answer: we are 100% attentive to everything around us. If we could educate ourselves to see less, to react less, we might survive better. 😊
