My pet peeve is people who say "nucular" instead "nuclear". I get irrationally upset about it and I don't know why.

This guy is another data point in my theory about ASMR being a mild form of misaphonia. It's like how spice isn't a flavor, but a pain sensation. Spite suggests a second data point with the food chewing sounds being a classic misaphonia trigger. For anyone unaware, misaphonia is a condition in which sound causes stress or discomfort. In extreme cases, it can lead to a violent outburst- anything to stop the triggering sound. I linked these conditions as someone who is aware of having many misaphonia triggers, but also being an enjoyer of ASMR, and I found certain ASMR triggers hit my misophonia instead. Particularly any wet sounds, like slimes or chewing.

That is a really damn interesting theory. And I guess it's a similar thing to why some people like spicy foods - they're less affected by pain of the spice, but respond to it in a semi pleasurable way as well. Maybe something similar for ASMR?

@2001herne Unfortunately, I'm just a lil' guy with no access to any real way to research this. I've been able to make correlations like the ones above, but with brain scans and such, it's pretty impossible to say with any certainty.

My pet peeve: People talking to me when the can CLEARLY see that I have headphones in. Especially when they can hear the music. I have them in so I can zone out and listen to stuff and not interact with people. Unless the thing you want to talk to me about it is important, leave me be.

18:25 you know what’s a real pet peeve of mine, people who live on the corner of 2 streets and only have that tiny chemical sign on one side of their yard. Either get a second sign or put it on the damn corner! Got dammit!!!

My pet peeve is people who mispronounce easily pronounced words or names, like all the people who call Lara Croft, Laura Croft. Or the time Angry Joe, in his Asura's Wrath review, called the character Augus, Augustus. Or, to quote this video, people who say nucular, instead of nuclear.
