Sadly that gets overshadowed by the country's horrible working conditions... long work days, stress, high amount of burned out people, depression, high suicide rate... with suicide being the leading cause of death for adults between 20-40 years... Yes, but actually no. I live in Japan atm and I can tell you it's definitely a double edged sword. Service is usually great, but it means it's often taken advantage of. I would never, ever in my life want to work with service in Japan. It was bad enough when I tried it in other countries. Also the government does its best to micromanage people and definitely doesn't trust anyone to take care of themselves or their responsibilities. Maybe it's just because I'm a foreigner, but the times I have to prove that I'm not an idiot even though I don't speak the language fluently is mind boggling.
