Hey guys and welcome to Dramatically Expatic! For today's video, I've collected a bunch of opinions about things that shock foreigners (both expats and tourists) the most when they're in Italy. I might not agree with everything (and I will give my opinion on each point), but I think it's a rather interesting cultural comparison! So if you want to know what surprises foreigners in Italy, watch till the end!

ABOUT:
Hi! I’m Valeria, and I’m a Ukrainian expat and digital nomad, currently living in Italy. I first came here without speaking the language and being totally unprepared, but pretty sure this is gonna be an adventure of a lifetime! I love discovering Italian culture, Italian people and, of course, Italian food. I'm a full-time content creator, so when I'm not making travel videos, I'm taking photos, writing and creating artworks. Studying is another passion of mine, and currently I’m finishing my Masters degree at the University of Bologna. Here I post regular travel vlogs, tips on expat life, moving abroad, personal growth and self-esteem as a woman living abroad, so hop on and welcome on board!

Good old Italy. I love it. It has a personality of its own. Italians are expressive. They are also warm people, so a good hug goes a long way. Those Italian pastries are the best 👌 its their tradition. Viva Italia. Thank you

It’s so funny if I didn’t know you were talking about Italy I would think you are talking about my island Puerto Rico!😄. The crazy roads and driving, how load it is and we are, lack of personal space, kissing and hugging everyone whether you know them or not and oh the hands, haha! I felt very at home in Italy because of all this. It’s a wonderful country with wonderful people. Thanks for this video

Great video as always! Being originally from Marseille, big city being loud and with lots of different ethnicities nothing is surprising me in Italy! Except driving in narrow streets would get me stressed out to maneuvering without hitting something on the way!! Love Italy and can’t wait visiting it again! Thank you 🙏

Noticed on the taxi ride from the airport to the hotel in central Rome there was a lot of honking, gestures and some words exchanged 😂

Yeah, Italy is a good place to master car maneuvering in narrow spaces. 😅 It's pretty stressful for mostly all the residents actually.

Just to give you an information. We , in Italy , use a lot of hand gesture and our hand gesture is a language in itself. Thebreason is that Italy is not a nation but a collection of nations. And every nation had its own languace. Just to give an exemple : i live in Emilia Romagna,Venicebisv200 km from my city , but if i start to talck with a venetian in my regional language( emiliano ) and he start to speack venetian we would haveblot of problem to understend eachother. And the problem grow more the city are far apart. Sicilian ( Sicily) and venetian are two complet different language. That why we developed hand language.

It depends a lot which part of Italy... Go to the north east, Friuli.. No huggings, people usually speak very little, they don't seem very friendly...
