We stayed in Dickinson and it was perfect-quick 30 min drive to the south unit and about an hour to the north unit. We were coming from Glacier, so we hit the north unit the first evening and spent the night in Dickinson and then spent the next day in the South Unit. North Unit only take about an hour or so to just drive through but it’s worth it!

Thanks for sharing! Would be a great stop if you're on your way back East after visiting Glacier...We're hoping to do Glacier, Banff and Jasper at some point in the future! We'd also like to go to the North Unit next time we're in North Dakota. We always like to leave a little to come back to wherever we go!

Nice video. If you go back, just be aware that TR's cabin doesn't exist as a cabin. It's the spot where the cabin was, but there is nothing left there. I wasn't sure if you were aware of that.

Yes we’re aware of that...just some of the foundation is there correct?

@@AdamandMadalyn That's what I understand. I've never been there but plan on going this fall. I learned about the "lack" of cabin via the Traveling Robert video when he visited there. Cheers!

The best guidance for anything COVID related comes from the NPS website...here’s a link. www.nps.gov/aboutus/news/public-health-update.htm This is an easy park to find space away from people...I’ll say that!

Your comments don't accurately portray lodging options in Medora to say nothing about trying to do a drive by visit to the park. Slow down and plan a bit. You can get a very clean room at the Elkhart Quarters for around $89 a night plus tax.

Your travel details make no sense to me. You drove from Billings, MT to Fargo (Eastern ND) in one day only to end up driving all that way back to Medora (Western ND) to see the park. What?!?! So you pass Medora on I-94 thinking everything outside the park up to and including BISMARCK is going to be overpriced so you keep driving all that way to the Minnesota state line before you find a place to stay? That's insane. You don't bother checking prices in Dickinson, Bismarck, and Jamestown at all. Who does that? Even if you had very little time to plan this trip, you're making some ridiculous assumptions without even calling people and places to confirm what you suspect. Maybe some context will help me understand: did you have business to attend to in Fargo and thought visiting the park on the way home would be a nice side trip before getting back to Billings? You are right about things getting pricey in Medora during the tourist season; we've checked on those options. But we are planning a trip there for this summer and found a decently priced place for my family of five to stay in Belfield - a 15-minute drive away. And your suggestion for people coming to see the park FROM THE WEST is to overshoot the park (and the options in and around Dickinson) to find a place in Bismarck, over 2 hours away? Sorry but you guys sound like you don't know what you're doing and no planning went into your trip whatsoever.

We did not drive back across the state, we did the park as a “one-day stop” on a cross country road trip. At the point in time when we visited there was almost no hotel avaliability anywhere near the park, the point of the where to stay discussion was to point out how limited options are around the park. We did not plan this months in advance. Also this video is 4 years old and a there have been additional interstate adjacent hotels built in North Dakota since that time, considering the business and GDP growth in ND in recent years.

@@AdamandMadalyn I agree that the growth has helped and there are more options now than when you made the video. But for anyone coming upon your video by chance will not know your travel situation - that you were doing a cross country trip and had little if any planning time. That would have made it understandable. But it still throws me to hear you describe driving from Billings to Fargo only to go back all that way. Maybe it should have been one of those things you hit on the way home? P.S. Okay. Finally figured out what you meant and how your travels went after some thinking it through. But man that took some deciphering without context clues. Hope you know I meant no ill will in my comments. Was just thoroughly confused for a while by what you were saying.
