Are you planning to adopt a child?
Do you often have doubts as adoptive parents?
Watch this video as we chat with Sangitha Krishnamurthi to demolish some myths around #ChildAdoption and discuss the things you need to know as adoptive parents in India.
Sangitha Krishnamurthi is a Special Educator and teacher who works with children almost every day. She is also a mother of two, one of whom she has adopted.
Being an adoptive mother herself, she has been actively involved with various organizations that help in the process of the adoption and also psychologically supporting young and new mothers by counselling them on the various situations a child will go through before he/she feels at home after being adopted.

Great interview ❤️. I am a mom of 1 year daughter (biological). Me and my husband always had in mind to adopt a child. This interview helped us a lot in understanding things better. All these qns were in our mind when we always think of adoption. I would like to connect with Mam for more about adoption.

Really good interview and will continue to watch your content. However, as others have said - there is already so much environmental noise in India, adding music on top is just noise++. :D may be its good to sit inside for interview, invest in mic with a filter, and rather than having such dramatic music, use more chilled music on lower volume (gain). Anyways, again, great content regardless. :D

So, in India a child wont have the medical information that must be given to parents who adopt to help the child with any medical issues ever, as the children are mostly abandoned ? Or some parents do give medical information of the baby and themselves before they give out the baby for adoption?
@Vidwansarwatrapujyate
@Vidwansarwatrapujyate 2 жыл бұрын
Medical information is provided by CARA (official government body for adoption). The tests and scans are done by the government when they share the referral of a baby that is up for adoption.

such an insightful video and it is lost in the background music, and why does the music need to be so dramatic? isn't the point of this video to spread awareness ? then why the build up background music. Please I request you to keep it simple. And thank you so much for this interview there is such less content about this. Appreciate your work. Please keep it up.

@@meenakshiatrey1555 sure will have to check search history and send you the link. By that time I would suggest you to watch the end of the new Bollywood movie on Netflix called Mimi. The end scene says “Of orphans were a country of their own, the population would rank 9th in the world.More than 153 million children are waiting for parents.”
@rizle1
@rizle1 3 жыл бұрын
@@joshuadas6949 what she probably means when she says adoptive children are less than parents is that in India, the orphanages do not let go off the children in the adoption pool because they get grants from the govt. on basis of no. of children they have, some children have relatives so they also dont go into adoption pool. Thats why the no. Of adoptable children is far less than what is should be... There is a need to make a proper system to bring all these children in the pool and dont deprive them of their right to have their own family.

Why not ask how much how much you paid for adoption?? If you think ppl should not ask then YOU must NOT Charge parents for adopting the baby either? You said babies are not potatoes then Are you selling babies? No? Then dont charge parents for babies, in fact parents must be PAID when they adopt to support the family.

Ideally speaking , you shouldn't be paying other than for legal fees. But because India is still third world country, people tend to fool or bribe or expect commission for doing favour while adoption process.

There is a government fee that needs to be paid for the government body took care of the baby till adoption. It’s more of a rotational fee if you will, so they can utilise it to take care of other babies. Also another way to screen people who want to be parents and not traffickers.

Why are there so many children in orphanages if there are to many people applying to adopt then ? Why would you discourage adoption, if charities didn’t have children in the orphanages they wouldn’t get the donations I suppose, seems you don’t want children to find home so people can make money out of them . Disgusting, absolutely appalled. I myself am adopted and Iv had a wonderful life , thank goodness for the good people in this world that adopt . Please don’t be discouraged by this video

Agree with everything she said except this identity and biological parents meeting with the adopted child repeatedly! I mean the child identity is what he is brought up and ww should just treat the biological parent like any other human being like us, so that the child don't feel out of the place in his own home. And biological parents meeting repeatedly only going to make child more confused and heartbroken... Maybe if they wish to meet their biological parents when they grow up like in their teenage years then of course we should try to do that. Because i have seen a casew where this happened and now the child only care about his biological parents and adoptive parents just their for financial support... Because the biological parents gave their son for adoption to their relatives but they also tried to take the parents place when interacting with him which is totally wrong. You( biological parents) should treat your son( which have given to adoption) like how you treat your siblings children! You treat them equally as your child love them same way but never try to become their parent... And open adoption is not safe in india at least not right now, it can be misused.

After the receipt of the referral letter, An Individual Unmarried adult of close relative can give the Guardianship letter to the prospective adoptive parents (Means if a close relative who is Unmarried and an adult of age below 40 years, can give the Guardianship letter, if in case of any miss happening happens to the prospective parents or it has to be a married copule who can only give the referral letter)? My brother in law is an Indian Unmarried adult of age below 40 years and is ready to give currently and in future also, the gurdian ship letter. Just confused whether individual or married copule only can give the Guardianship letter? Please it's a humble request to revert this Question
