I’m really enjoying your vlogs and have found them to be very informative. I’m booked at Secrets Cap Cana for October 23, and it will be my first time visiting the DR, and only my second time at an all inclusive. This past spring I stayed at Secrets Playa Mujeres and loved everything about it, but the people that work so hard…from bringing me drinks, serving me food, cleaning my room…even the groundskeepers working all day and always with a smile…they are the reason for the best vacation I’ve ever had! I know tipping is “included” (but it’s not, not enough anyhow) but my husband and I tipped when and how much $ we felt like it. Along with cash tips, I had also brought along small goodie bags, some with just candy, some with cosmetics (I have access to sample beauty products mostly high end *one sample of what I gave to my favorite server by the pool have a mini Charlotte Tilbury lipstick, along with perfume sample, inexpensive necklace, etc* and she came to me the next day and thanked me, and admitted that her teen daughter “stole” her lipstick 🤣)… I wonder your thoughts on this…in the Dominican Republic, would these type of extra thank you gifts, in addition to the $ tip we will give, be welcome? Are small and sample cosmetics, inexpensive jewelry, candy, and even crayons and coloring books or small toys things that staff might enjoy receiving? Are there things I haven’t listed, that you think might be a good small thank you? Work gloves for some of the groundskeepers? Is there a need in the surrounding community of something that I may fit in my luggage and bring to donate (such as sanitary items for young women, socks, pencils for the schools)? Thank you in advance for any helpful information you can provide…and again, these items would be in addition to cash tips, as I know that the money is what will make the biggest difference in their lives…

Hi! So good of you to tip well and bring presents for them. Of course they will be happy, they do work hard and the salary is still small. The presents you mentioned are good, the gloves no. Cosmetics, toys, markers, jewelery, some clothes - all that will make them happy!

Don't worry, food poisoning is possible but not often. Just drink much rum while you are eating - it will kill all the bacterias😁

Yes, that's true. But if you go in winter it should be fine, we usually don't have seaweed in winter
