I have nothing but great things to say about animation mentor. I took some workshops and I have learned more in 6 weeks than I could ever learn in a year by myself!

first I read that as "I have nothing great to say about animation mentor" I was about to re-think about if I should ask my mom if I can take these classes XDDD

I'm still thinking about taking this, idk if my parents would let since they don't give you a degree but I heard a lot of people learned more with this school than in colleges/universities plus this is a lot cheaper

how's the workflow with drawing tablet compared to without? I just applied for an Animation School so stoked!!
@studentsofanimation74383 жыл бұрын
Hmmm I only used a mouse for the first term of Animation Mentor before changing over to a drawing tablet but I can tell you that changing over to a table was really great for me! It was easier on my wrist and I felt like I had more control over my animation overall! It was good to be able to set specific buttons on my tablet to be hot keys as well ^_^ I hope this helps! ~ Natalya

Hello! Thank you so much for this video. I would like to ask why you personally chose animation mentor over animschool as I heard that both are really good.
@studentsofanimation74382 жыл бұрын
Hi Jen! Personally I choose Animation Mentor because of the awesome campus site they have and the awesome mentors that they have. I also looked the course structures they have and found that it really made sense to me how your learning is structured. That being said both schools are really awesome programs and honestly there isn’t a bad choice between the two! - Ryan

Would i be allowed to take a workshop class before the core animation classes (character animation course) ? I was wanting to take a Maya workshop class before the animation course so I have an idea of how the software works, and I'm not sure if the animation course will go over the basics of Maya.
@gxld_5992 жыл бұрын
Yea it’s actually recommended that u take the maya workshop class before the actual character animation course if your pretty new to maya

This is an off-topic question, but a question nonetheless. When you guys did Animation Mentor how were you able to access Audodesk Maya? Did you purchase it for full price, get a discount or get it for free? I am just curious because I am wanting to try the Maya workshop that Am offers, but the price of Maya is crazy high and the student license for Maya seems to only be for students at an institution.

You can get a student download that grants you permission for a year I think at no cost

@@Evel0ne Yeah, thats what I ended up doing. Autodesk made getting it for free a lot easier than I first thought.

Hi, I am a animation student from a lower middle class family in a third world country, is there a way for people like us to get a good animation education. Thought animation mentor would be The one, but seeing the fees made me soo demotivated. Any kind of suggestions would be appreciated.
@studentsofanimation74382 жыл бұрын
Hi Karma, some of the programs can definitely be expensive. There are many ways to learn animation outside of Animation Mentor. Some of the other schools such as Animschool and ianimate aren’t quite as expensive but still give a really good education. You can also go the self taught route. It’s a perfectly valid way to learn Animation! There are books such as “The illusion of life”by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston and “The Animators Survival Kit” by Richard Williams that will teach you many of the basics of Animation. Even though they are written for 2D animation all the principles are the same and we use info from those books on a daily basis. Don’t forget about all the free resources on KZbin and the internet. You can definitely get a job in animation if you teach yourself through books and videos, it’s all about your drive and passion for Animation! ~ Ryan

Great video and I'm happy to discover this channel. I really enjoy that moment when you were talking about do not isolate, learning in a group. It's a little bit hard to find a real learning community out of online schools. What do you think about creating a discord server? Which group, discord server, or somewhere else do you recommend?

Working in a group of fellow animators is really the best! We will be starting a channel discord when the channel hits 400 subscribers!!
