Things You May Not Know about Moho (and Anime Studio)

Did you know that you can prevent your shapes from distorting when you add points to them (Moho only)? That you can show a layer's points and paths even when you are editing another layer? Anyone ever have issues creating new actions? For some reason every time I click on the "new Action" tab, parts of my character seem to disappear in spite of the fact nothing is ever selected prior to my attempt at creating a new action. I eventually discovered that the mouth folder is not actually vanishing, but instead, the moment I click on the actions tab, every point on each of the mouth layers inside of this folder are all being given the exact same Z/Y axis location causing these shapes to be compressed into a single dot. I have backtracked several times and deleted much of my work, but it still occurs. I have already successfully created twenty bone-control actions and eleven phoneme actions that work fine, but now any new action I attempt to create is instantly causing the abnormal compression of my entire mouth rig. I have tried all I can think of to resolve this one, but coming up empty-handed. Thanks.

That is a lot of actions. Are you sure that no other action is controlling those mouths. Without seeing the rig I wouldn't be able to say more. I find that weird problems like this are almost always some sort of weird and accidental addition of the points to another bone. Save as a new file and delete ALL actions (save as new, don't destroy your work). Does it still happen? Also, do you have any sort of 3D work you've created, or have you rotated any of the layers? This kind of thing usually isn't good on a character rig, I use the Perspective Points to turn things rather than the layer rotate.

Thanks for getting back to me bro! Yeah I have already saved my project as another file to troubleshoot with and thinking along the same line as you deleted all thirty-one actions, but still the mouth is affected the instant I click "New Action". I went into the Actions menu and for each layer involved selected the "Cleared Animation From Layer" option to see if that would help. Strangely this allowed for the layers to return to their original z/y axis, but not in the right form. There are key frames connected to some, not all, of these layers on frame zero that refuse to be deleted and I imagine this is somehow connected, but difficult to be certain with Moho. I am late for work so have to run, I'll try to check back in on my break later. Thanks again for answering!

Do you mean the style where the lines draw in? There is a great tool in the Scripts menu in the Draw section. It’s called Animated Strokes and will draw in the strokes at a speed you choose. I use it all the time.

There are brushes but you might not get the effect you want. My style is sketchy but a true pencil look hasn’t worked for me.
