To comment about beards: I liberally applied Vaseline to my boyfriend's full beard before the liquid latex. The dried latex came off at the end of the night with no problems or damage to his beard. 👍 hope that helps

If im going to attach a rubber tube to my chest like a tube got insode my heart and blood comes out of it,,,and i use a simple pvc tube and i dont want it to fall ,,can i use layers of liquid latex around its brim ,,and make sure it will be there,,or should i use pros aid too,,, and plz tell me if i want the attachment site be elastic and not hard,,,should i use latex or silicon,,keeping in mind that i need strong adhesion.
@JessFischerosity7 жыл бұрын
I would suggest using pros aid or spirit gum to secure it, and then use the liquid latex to blend it out more naturally - it probably wouldn't be good just as an adhesive
@teaisforteagan81907 жыл бұрын
Eeeekkk! Sorry it took me so long to reply! I'm sure you've probably already done your project and so my replying now is totally unhelpful but just in case...I'd agree with Jess Fischer. I wouldn't use liquid latex for adhesion I'd use another type of glue to actually stick it on. I'd also probably go for silicon to cover it as latex tends to not be too elastic, any areas where there'll be a lot of movement or skin stretching and the latex is going to end up peeling away from it.
@illuminantodeviante39397 жыл бұрын
TeaIsForTeagan ud be amazed if i told u i havent yet made that,,and ur reply counts for sure!! So silicon for the end attachment . ,,but what kind of glue or adhesive is suitable for silicone attached to skin,,,? How can i add layers of glues around the attachment end, and make sure the glue isnt hard either.. the glue must be elastic too,,or at least not too hard,, Ill be thankful
@teaisforteagan81907 жыл бұрын
Would it be possible to stick the tube on with some kind of tape (like medical tape) to keep it in place, then cover that up with the silicone? Or are you planning to make the silicone like a prosthetic that you're going to attach on after?

@illuminantodeviante39397 жыл бұрын
Thanks But what about removing it,,is it easily peeled off of skin or do need remover,,, also can we use it for glueing things to skin or we need pros aide,,they say latex will come off by perspiration,,,and its easily removed with little force.
@teaisforteagan81907 жыл бұрын
Latex is pretty easily removed, some people prefer to use isopropyl miristate to remove it slowly so you don't get too much pulling on the skin (especially in delicate areas). If you've used latex over anywhere with small hairs then it'll probably rip all those hairs out which an pinch a little. You can use it for glueing things to the skin in a pinch but it's much better to use a proper skin safe glue (spirit gum, pros aid something like that). If you do use it to glue something to the skin then it would have to be something light otherwise the weight will probably make it fall off.

If I follow all your tips how long is liquid latex is safe on your skin?
@teaisforteagan81909 жыл бұрын
+Rae B. How long do you want to wear it for? Your skin can breathe through latex and it isn't toxic so nothing dangerous is getting absorbed into your skin. Check the safety instructions that come with your latex, but as far as I know you can wear it for as long as you like without any problems. Actors/actresses wear it all day on long shoots and it's fine. When you wear it for long periods of time it can be a problem to keep it all looking how you want though, if you put it in an area with lots of movement like your mouth or forehead, or somewhere with bends like your elbows then after a while you'll feel the latex start to come unstuck from your skin. If there is an edge there then it will start to come away from your skin and there'll be a gap. You could have a little bottle of spirit gum or prosaide with you so you could stick it back down if that does happen.
@faelightsky5 жыл бұрын
If you see this, please reply quickly. I heard that liquid latex stops the skin from breathing, which is bad for your skin. Is that true? and is there a different product that I could use instead of it?

i wonder if plastering my ZZ Topish beard to my neck with a gluestick would keep it safe?
@teaisforteagan81908 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't risk it on a beard that size plus you'd need a huge supply of glue sticks!!! You could try wrapping your beard in something as a protection layer, so maybe a layer of glue on the outer hairs, then stick some thick tissue like kitchen roll to the glue and work on top of that with the latex, I'd think that'd do the trick as long as you didn't use so much latex that it saturated through the kitchen towel. You could use something like cellophane which would be water proof so there'd be no risk of the latex seeping through, but then you might have a problem with whatever you build up with the latex sliding off along with the cellophane if it's too heavy. The only other alternative I can think of to keep your beard safe would be to build up whatever you're planning to do with latex off your face, let it dry, then use spirit gum to attach it instead. Good luck with whatever you're trying to make!
@PKAdventures8 жыл бұрын
awesome. thanks for the ideas, i appreciate it
@teaisforteagan81908 жыл бұрын
no worries! I don't know what you're planning to do with the latex, but you could use sfx gelatine instead maybe? Gelatine will basically melt with warm water so it's much less likely to end up taking any hair out with it. Also, hair gel on your beard might help things as well because then the hairs will be clumped together instead of single strands so it'll be much harder for any latex that does manage to sneak through to get a good hold.

ooo i like the hair gel idea!

How long would it take for a thin layer to dry approximately?
@teaisforteagan81907 жыл бұрын
It usually takes around 5 minutes for a thin layer to dry properly. Latex turns a kind of yellowy colour once it's completely dry. If you're planning on doing lots of layers some people use hair dryers (make sure it's not too hot!) to speed up the drying process.
