I said this before and I’ll say it again. Common’s “Be” is my generation’s “Illmatic”. Till this day the number 1 best hip hop album I’ve ever heard. Perfectly balanced; street edge with punchlines and vivid storytelling and some of the dopest production I’ve ever heard consolidated on an album. Just a straight up masterpiece. Not one song on this album is skippable... I can’t say that even my favorite rappers of all-time have been able to accomplish the feat that Ye’, Dilla, and Common did on this album.

People saying “I miss the old Kanye” and “he should look back at this and get back to this” need to understand that this was before his mum passed. His music understandably became a little darker after Donda passed. Plus he’s an artist - artist evolve, grow and go through different things which they reflect and express in their art. Nonetheless Kanye was and always has been a great and energetic artist. He’s a unique and entertaining soul for sure! I appreciate the guy a lot man 💫
