Personally, I much prefer the early cars. They have much nicer specs in terms of nice woods, interesting leathers and paint colours. Later cars introduce chinzy crap like glass keys, shiny black and silver effect plastics, naff looking seats. They also only seem to have been bought in black, silver and...black. Yes the later cars have more power, but if thats why you're buying an Aston you should probably look elsewhere as no DB9 is going to give Ferrari sleepless nights in terms of driving dynamics, and thats fine by me.

No such thing as a cheap Aston. Excellent advise.👍

I'd certainly try to go for an 09 or higher as they obviously have more power, are cleaner, nicer seats, the updated center console and a better audio system. The Aston 700W Premium audio system is great. I actually prefer it to the B&O system in my DBS. (more balls in the lower end) Obviously, most (if not all) of the issues in the earlier models have been fixed and you'll have a more reliable car. My 09 DB9 was fantastic and I had very little problems with it. My 2011 DBS Carbon Black Edition has been as reliable as any other (normal) car and I love it. Most important, I think, is a good dealer that knows what they are doing and don't over charge you. I live in Belgium and use Aston Martin Michiels (Antwerp) who is really good and don't charge you the world for maintenance. People from The Netherlands, Germany, Luxemburg and even from France go there because of the quality of service at a reasonable price.

I thought the audio system was the go pedal. 🤣 I bought an '07 DB9 last year & haven't ever used the radio

Hi Mike, where can we view these cars for sale please?

Just bought a '08 DB9 from Aston Martin directly, 36,000 miles, £23 k. 2 year factory warranty and 1 year free service included. Only downside was 1 key so I bought a spare, but that's it. Hassle and worry free. Don't buy used from anyone or anywhere else.

Wow. Thats my kind of deal. Where did you buy it from ?
@joshuafleming71578 күн бұрын
@@michaelkingston9203 Aston Martin Kuwait. Was a few years ago now when prices were lower, since sold. More recently in March 2024 I bought a 2017 Vantage S from Aston Martin Sevenoaks and the same kind of deal with 2 years unlimited milage warranty, covering even small things like tyre pressure sensors. No disrespect to the specialists like McGurk or Bamford (bit arrogant) but generally speaking unless you aren’t happy with the original car want to mod it then I can’t see a better deal than buying direct from a franchise unless you can risk taking a 5k repair bill out of nowhere potentially.

Buyers like this video, sellers maybe not so much. Great explanation!

Do 470 bhp still have the engine tic? I am after a DB9, but the Spanish market is very small, how can I make sure I avoid the engine tic in the future if the car is fine at the time of buying? Thank you!
@surblows3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jorge, Mike mentioned in a previous video that true engine tick design flaw was in a portion of the Cosworth engine cars for VIN prior to ~1800 ('04-'05 model years) and that he has not heard of any issues on '09. I read about one case of engine tick on '09, but this was due to no oil change for 14,000 miles! Any engine on any car can be damaged and develop a tick due to oil starvation, but it is not necessarily a design flaw. The issue on the earlier DB9s was that some developed a tick despite proper maintenance.
@surblows3 жыл бұрын
To answer your question, an '09 that has been reasonably well maintained with proper oil changes should have virtually no chance of engine tick. There are a couple of other V12 catastrophic issues (also caused by poor maintenance) that you should look for, and those are listed on Bamford Rose website.

@@surblows Thank you, Sur. Very kind of you. So a properly maintained 2006/07 should be fine as well?
@surblows3 жыл бұрын
@@jorgedepayns Yes, even later '05 models are likely to be okay. One other issue that the very early models had was a long dipstick, which caused some owners to delay oil change and create engine problems. Aston put a bandage on this problem by replacing the dipstick with a shorter one. As long as you check the service records and check for engine tick at time of sale, I would say that you're fine. Safest bet, however, is to go for later models.

I’m constantly looking at around 35, some really high mile 2004/5 models out there at this price. They never sell.

Loved that #QOTW. I would love to know whether you’d recommend a late 470 model or an early 510
