Agreed. His videos for the NBA have been huge for the growth of NBA KZbinrs. Just look at the Through the Wire guys being on the Inside the NBA studio in Atlanta.

Its like what NFL has been doing letting some YT guys collab with them and some directly with the teams. NBA def needs more of this type of content.

Nikola Jokic is considered a reluctant 3-point shooter and yet his 3-point volume is higher than Dirk's was, which shows the difference in eras. Dirk was never a reluctant shooter, but his shot profile was so different than it would be today.
@t4d0W
@t4d0W Жыл бұрын
Dirk was actually heavier on the 3-balls prior to 2005. But the Mavs also didn't have a guy who can reliably score in all 3 levels. So Dirk had to turn his shooting ability and become the big who can post up from mid range and get baskets inside and draw FTs. That 3-ball volume would increase again in the twilight of his career in 2015-16 when he's not strong enough for the mid/post up game.

@TheAbielBeluts Жыл бұрын
1. Jokic is a reluctant SCORER, which is a shame because he's one of the best scorers in the league. 2. Jokic is unstoppable in the restricted area so despite how efficient he is outside of the lane, it still makes more sense for him to spam paint/near paint shots. 3. Jokic has been dealing with a wrist issue for like 2 years or something. It has obviously forced him to change up his shot profile, otherwise he would have shot 3s at a greater volume (especially during his 2nd MVP year).

It´s crazy to see how much space they had on the 3-pt line back then and still they passed that ball. The game has advanced so much over the last 10-15 years

Probably don't want repeat players but I'd love to see a breakdown of Dirk's 2011 Western Conference finals game 1 performance. That was one of the best performances by a player that I have ever seen.

his run is a pure meme, nobody know the stats but repeating like parrots just to make it clear, recent Jokic, Curry, Giannis runs are better statistically(bpm, vorp, gmscore, stuff like that). Kawhi also.

@steelwall4396
@steelwall4396 Жыл бұрын
He'd have major issues on defense with how much quicker the NBA is. He's actually probably maximized in the 00's where his tough shot making helps raise offenses in an era without a ton of offensive talent, and he isn't forced to play in a ton of space on defense

You wouldn't really see a team completely lean into heliocentric ball with a star and a bunch of spacing defenders until Lebrons Cavs and Heat from 07-14. Olajuwons Rockets did something similar but inverted, where they surround Olajuwon with elite shooters and use him to floor raise on Offense AND Defense Hm to Iverson 76ers in 00-02. A ton of defenders, but not a lot of shooting

yeah this generation is waaayayayyy harder than the one y’all got now. Even up to like 2014-15. The nuance and touch that goes into attack the defense. Now it’s just drive and kick swing and jack a 3
@Lavitz2011
@Lavitz2011 Жыл бұрын
This is just factually wrong; have you seen how they play now? Spaced-out, ball-movement, drive and kick? Have you seen the Warriors or Kings play? The spacing alone makes defending it harder, but add in ball-movement and much more talented players and you’ve got headaches. Have you seen this? kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqbZioyIpNd1lbMsi=fP-8xys7Dn2qe4Y1

Dirks "consecutive FTs made" stat was a legit storyline...why wouldn't it be shown? That's like asking why FTs would be shown in a 05 Finals video about Wade. Lol Edit: for some reason I was referring to Dirks FT streak in the 2011 playoffs. My bad.
