Thinkpad x230 upgraded with a 13.3 inch FHD IPS display

First look at my upgraded x230 (also known as an x330). I purchased a new display (13.3 inch FHD matte IPS) along with a new motherboard. The new motherboard was pre-soldered with the connector which is needed to accept the FHD display. At first, I noticed that the screen was not as bright as the old display and that I could not modify the screen brightness. I have since found a fix for this problem (more on that in the next video).

It's awesome on it's own like that. I got the X230 from a Danish refurbish factory with the 'usual' IPS display in it. Love it.

The screen turning off after pulling the screen protector off gives me Samsung Galaxy fold vibes. Glad it came back quickly. Looks good. I might want to do that

I think it just went to sleep since I wasn't doing anything with the computer. So far, no problems with the display.

Thanks for sharing. I still love the x230 keyboard better than any other I've used. I use it when doing work lounging on the couch. While its i7 process consumes a lot more power than today's ultraibook CPUs, it's processing power is still competent. In fact my i7 x230 out benchmarks my 7th gen i7 in my T25.

i bought a 20000mah slim powerbank and installed it inside a broken sliced battery of my x230. My x230 can now last more than 8 hours with stock i5 cpu, planning to buy a board with i7 35 tdp quad core to swap it.

Hey Kevin, I too have an x230 with x220 keyboard mod and its the best laptop I've ever used. I was looking to upgrade my display to an HD one but heard there's some soldiering involved in the process, is this true? Let me know your thoughts or how to go about upgrading it. I ordered all the required parts from www.xyte.ch/shop/x330-pricing/ All I needed to do was to switch out the motherboard, install the new display (includes the bezel and top lid). There was no soldering needed on my part. There are also many guides online (even from lenovo I think) that show you step-by-step how to disassemble the X230. Good luck!

Yes, the new panel came with the matrix, bezel, lid......it was pre assembled. All I needed to do was remove the old screen and install the new one. This is the website where I purchased the parts www.xyte.ch/shop/x330-pricing/

Regardless of if it does or not, you can swap in the X220 keyboard into the X230 frame.
