Thinkpad X250 1080 screen upgrade vs HD screen, is it worth it?

i have a x250 with touchscreen 1080p display and i must say its really good, compared to my MacBook pro retina display 2015, the colours and image clarity is fantastic. viewing angles amazing, brightness, thats grate too.

Is there any extra procedure to do when upgrading or you just attach the screen to the original socket? Also, how much battery life do you get with the x250? Sorry for asking a lot. My laptop just died and this is my only affordable option

Nice to see your brightness controls on kb still work. I read on reddit that they don't work with 1080 screen thats a deal breaker for me. Do you know the exact screen you bought i want the same ine

Were you able to control brightness after the upgrade? What was the FRU code of 1080p panel?

@@lovesrc4296 The X250 has a display whitelist. Brightness control in Windows will not work if the EDID doesn't report a Lenovo-approved FRU.

I upgraded my laptop to the 1080, but my wife decided against it. she doesn't use it enough to upgrade. (I've since sold my x250 and got an x270).

Currently have the 1366x768 IPS model. Do you find 1080p on a 12.5 inch display too small?

I personally do not. But that does come down to personal preference. I had the TN panel with is utter crap, so this was a huge upgrade. I like to have the ability to have more on my screen and zoom in if I really need to. I also find that a lot of web pages and things are coded to work with 1080, and so just "fit" better with a 1080 screen.

Thats exactly what I wanted to know. If its possible or not. I'm going to buy an i5 system off ebay to use Manjaro linux on. Eventually I'll swap to one of these 1080p panels. Not sure which one it comes with. I'll see! Thanks!

No, from my understanding you can only got to a touch screen if you had a touch screen already as the connector on the mobo is physically different, unless you're able and willing to solder things to the system board. (which I was not).

There's only 1 company that does TN panel right and that's apple I had no idea my 2010 MacBook air had a TN panel until I googled it's so good other companies just use really really cheap TN panels which I think is giving a really bad image to TN panels apple has definitely proven TN can be done right

A TN panel is never as good as an IP one. even if it is a "good" tn panel.
