At 2:18 why exactly doesn't 2 and 5 work when factoring? 3x5= 15 and 2x1= 2. make the 15 positive and the 2 negative and you get +13x. I'm a little confused on why you couldn't use those numbers to factor, any help would be appreciated

I hope I understood your confusion. Please let me know if I didn't. You are probably confused because he didn't explain solving QE by factoring. In the equation a = 3, b = 13, c = 10. Now, you need to find two numbers sum of which is 13 (b value in the equation) and product of which is 30 (a times c). So only 10 and 3 are such numbers. 10+3 = 13 and 10 x 3 = 30. If you want to learn more please search solving quadratic equations by factoring.

Because there’s no negative signs in the inequality. If you have a negative 2 that would mess the whole thing up. Instead of positive 10, you would have negative 10.

what will happen if i cannot factor the equation

Isn’t there some way to tell that the answer is in BETWEEN the two values, without drawing all that?

Marta Kheyfets there are 4 formulas
@riteshyeddu6 жыл бұрын
If the equation less than zero, x belongs in between the two values,and if the equation is greater than zero, x belongs to all the real numbers except in between the two factors of the quad equation
@riteshyeddu6 жыл бұрын
If the equations are less than or equal to, or ,greater than equal to,you should just keep a closed bracket
@riteshyeddu6 жыл бұрын
You can get this conclusion by taking the resultant sign of the products of the factored equation,whether it is greater than, less than, greater than equal to or less than equal to zero
