For complete DBMS tutorial: www.studytonight.com/dbms/
In this video, you will learn about the Third Normal Form of DBMS with help of the simplest database example ever.
You will also learn how to design a table which follows the Third normal form? What are the rules and requirements for a table to be in the third normal form?
As the data requirements increases, database complexity increases and with it chances of tables not following the Normal Forms also increases. And it is very difficult to notice Transitive Dependency sometimes.
We have extended the example from our 2nd Normal form video, so we suggest you watch that video before this one.
Introduction to Normalization: • Basic Concept of Datab...
First Normal Form: • First Normal Form (1NF...
Second Normal Form: • Second Normal Form (2N...
Third Normal Form: • Third Normal Form (3NF...
BCNF: • Boyce-Codd Normal Form...
Fourth Normal Form: • 4th Normal Form (4NF) ...
Fifth Normal Form: • 5th Normal Form (5NF) ...

I love this tutorial! It seems really that it has been done to be understood by people, not to show how good you are in editing videos with special effects or how good you master SQL without caring whether IT-prospects understand a single word of what you are saying. Thank you very much from Rome, Italy!

I agree! I think one of the biggest problems is that in academia they love to use big words and definitions, and get so caught up in those words that they forgot to teach the actual concept. I spend three hours yesterday just learning what functional dependency was because our textbook was horribly written. (and by horribly written I'm talking typos left and right).

Universities give you knowledge on what needs to be studied. It basically creates a courses and syllabus for each course. They conduct exams to give you the opportunity to study all these topics. They also assists you in finding jobs. University rankings don't depend on how well they teach. It depends on the platform they provide to help you understand what is best for you. I don't approve of the current university exam patterns where it's mainly theoretical but I know for a fact that universities help you build your career. None the less, absolute respect to StudyTonight for helping me understand Data Normalization

thank you for the explanation, it is very useful, my first assignment in SQL implementation class is how to take the values for an invoice at a veterinary clinic and then putting it in a table, and then progressively transitioning the values for the columns into 1NF, then 2NF, and then 3NF, all in a one page word document, so this is very useful, thank you.

These are great videos. Thank you. Personally though, I find that the slides move too quickly, so I'm still trying to figure out what the table looks like before it moves on, sometimes to unnecessary slides like "you must be thinking how?". The format used in the normalisation intro and 1NF videos I thought were easier to follow where the tables were left on the screen and the cursor was used to point out what was necessary while the narrator spoke. This format I think would make even more sense where dependencies are being explained.
