He's always used auto tune since their first album. It's for the sound and outer-space vibe it gives his voice, rather than helping his vocals.

He uses it just to give it a different vibe, yes I do prefer his voice without it cause it's perfect, but it sounds pretty fun like this if you think about it, it fits the song vibe imo

You can't expect a band to sound the same over the years... everyone must evolve, that's not "selling out" as Jared and the boys have been in the music industry for quite some time now. They are artists! They create, learn, and evolve. That's what true artists are! Create and recreate! I personally love this song, and everything they represent! Nothing but love and respect from a die hard fan!

From Attack to Rescue Me, I will always love 30 Seconds to Mars for their, 1) dedication to their art. Their not putting out albums because they can, like most artists these days. They worked hard on this. 2) Their growth as a band. Sure they've changed with the times but they've also grown into a new stage of life. Jared often says he can write a song to mean one thing but it's ultimately to the listener to feel what they feel about the song. That every time he listens to a song it could mean something different. I'M PROUD OF YOU BOYS! AND ALWAYS WILL BE. FUCK THE HATERS. You've come too far to care what people have to say now.

I've been a fan of 30stm for years now, I still remember how much I fell in love with the band after "The Kill". Now I understand how bands wanna change their sound and it pains me to see so many once long time fans criticize the new music. I get the auto tune is not needed, it might sound more pop than rock, the odd collaboration with rappers. But at the end of the day to me it's still the same old Jared, Shannon, and Tomo I fell in love with. And I like change, change isn't necessarily a bad thing. I say either give it a listen out of respect and love for them or just move on and keep the negativity to yourselves. Please and thank you 😊

TBH, I said the said after LLFD, but Mars are usually so good at Epic Rock, where there's this atmostphere to the song. Someone said it earlier, it's a tease. Most of the songs don't have soaring backgrounds. They're very stripped down and I'm not really into that from them. I expect more from them. It's weird, I'd not mind this from maybe, Ellie Goulding or something, but even then, I'd not listen that much only on occasions. They seem to be losing their distinct sound. It's taking a while, they've still got some of it in Walk on Water and Dangerous Night, but there's nothing close to the level of City of Angels, Closer To The Edge, Do or Die, Kings and Queens, Beautiful Lie, Vox Populi, The Kill, Hurricane etc so far on this album. It's a whole different sound, and I'm just not enjoying it at all, and most people don't even seem to like ANY of the songs. I get they wanna change it up, but there's a "thing" about them, that they've lost on this album so far. There's still another 8 songs on the album to go (haven't heard Rider yet). 7 if you discount Great Wide Open which hasn't been released but has been showcased on the tour. You never know. Usually, I only truly listen to maybe 4/8 songs off an album by any given artist. Off LLFD it was: City of Angels, Do or Die, Birth, Up in The Air, Conquistador, End of All Days. The rest I didn't really like, and Pyres isn't exactly a song as much as more of an interlude. Usually, I can get behind most singles. But I don't like the last two that were released and I can just about tolerate Dangerous Night. I'd say it's just me, but there's a lot of people saying they don't like these too much. I dunno, they've probably got a little bit of a plan going ahead, but I personally hope that they go back to much more epic music.
@SuperLovelessgirl

30secondstomarsMBH Oh trust me I know the "it" factor that you're referring to. It set them apart from most bands because they always just had that awesome quality sound to all of their songs. And I totally understand how I listen to a whole album, but still only favor certain songs. LLFD was beautiful. "Up In The Air" and "Hurricane" are tied for my favourite. I still get great chills from "The Edge" as well as other old songs I frequently revisit. Now yes these new ones may have lost their usual "it" factor, but there's a chance they can still be different and stand out amongst the mainstream pop crap I usually hear on the radio. Of course I love all of 30stm, but it's just this way that Jared sings that pulls me in every time. Not even auto tune can drown out the desired pull he has with his voice. Like I said they may be trying something new but their awesome notable traits still shines through in every song if one listens close enough. So I'll give the new album a listen and see what I can take away from it. Here's hoping it's more good than bad songs.

Anastasiarockz fresh & new?? This is the farthest from that you could get. This is generic 2016-17 esque pop, & it’s bad even by those standards. If you like it, that’s fine, but there’s a good reason a lot of people don’t

They’re evolving guys, chill out. Every album has a different style because they always said that they like to experiment every type of music. So leave the 2005 behind, where it is, and accept that 30stm are still doing music and concert all around the world. I was lucky to see the band in Rome and they were absolutely amazing live (but I missed Tomo so much :c ). Everyone has a different taste and that’s okay, but in my opinion, this band could nail every type of music, and they’re doing it. You couldn’t pretend to hear the same music with different lyrics for 10 years. C’mon guys, let’s appreciate this evolution of the band. Still love them.

THE SONG IS GREAT. 💙 All the negative comments aren't really necessary....its no need to degrade their talent and hard work because you don't like what they're putting out. Just move around. It's really not that hard.
@ale6o
@ale6o 6 жыл бұрын
What talent? All the talent they had was wasted on this album. No real instruments, no meaningful vocals, nothing of any substance. And hard work? don't make me laugh, all they did was hire some people to mix these bland vocals into something that sounds like Chainsmokers music. And the song is awful. Jared Leto is awful. He sold out to the people that already make music in this genre because it's the new music that this culture says is good. And just move around? There wasn't a band that did music like 30stm and what's bad is that now half of the popular "artists" are doing the exact same thing that a once unique band is doing. It gets hard when you've loved the band since their first album and tried listening to this.

None of these comments are surprising. Most people struggle to accept change and most people don't like people talking negatively about something that they enjoy. Music is something that's based 100 percent on emotion and feeling, which is why people are reacting in such a negative or possitive way, they are just expressing how the song made them feel. Expressing your opinions is fine, argueing isnt. Half the people here who say they love this song will forget it by the end of this week and half the people here who are hating on the song will be listening to it for years. Music needs to grow on you, and everyone's taste in music is constantly changing

man iunno what people complaining about...this song is hott. this new album is gonna be awesome. it's called "artist maturation." people expect artists to "stay in their lane" and keep dropping the same old sound but that completely defeats the purpose of being an "artist." the point of being an artist is pushing the envelope. They did that with this song...30stm has always pushed the envelope fr. love this band!

This is art. Art is often a personal reflection of the one who is creating it. You can tell how the band has changed over the years just through their albums. All of them offer something different and all of them tell a different story. People change. They grow up, go through new experiences and they change. How can the art they produce not change? That's like creating a story with a character who never grows. How boring. Maybe the music isn't as great as their previous albums, in some people's opinion, but if you listen to the lyrics it's still Thirty Seconds to Mars. How can you really listen to what their saying and call it bad? It's their heart. It's their lives. Their mind totally laid out in front of you. I understand when something just isn't for you, but to flat out bash it when it's something so personal, that I can't understand.

The funny thing is I didn't hear this for the first time until just yesterday. I am currently staying with my grandma in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. Sunset Beach North Carolina is located near the South Carolina state border. I was coming back from a Irish themed bar and restaurant when I heard it. The song is so addictive. I can't stop listening to it. The song is that good.

Closer to the Edge is a freaking amazing song, and I am positive it would still be popular today. I understand they like experimenting, but it doesn't look like that when it's what everyone else is doing.

This always happens. As soon as a band or an artist who's been around for a long time tries something new, everybody complains and hates it without even giving it a chance. Just like when people complained about Linkin Park's One More Light album.

I think hearing four really awful songs qualifies as giving it a chance. I highly doubt the rest of the album will be any better. I'm all for evolving and changing your sound, but they have lost me with this Chainsmokers & Imagine Dragons inspired drivel.

Good song! Who cares if it's different than their previous music? It's still good!(: Life is too short to complain about something that other people have worked so hard on and you so quickly judged and decided was terrible. Many people put their time, money, and passion into making this album. Let's just support one another and be happy y'all.♡ enjoy the damn song.(:

I agree with many it is a change too far for some people,change happens,it has to or art never becomes art,just a copy! I bought my album without hearing any already released tracks as I am ready to take it in with nobody elses shitting on their heads. They are to me one of my favorite muso's,always will be..One Track Mind I have with them.I hope it goes well as ppl accept change,we still got our older music to love,and the guys to laugh at as they are crazy..give them space,respect with no horrible comments..they still are our band remember...Cheers

Mike Stankovich the substance is no longer there they've stripped down the first 3 albums were great the 4th album was reasonable but this new one 5th album is not all that so far yea first 2 singles were enjoyable but this one and one track mind is just garbage for a band who is capable of doing way better and have been there in the past achieving much greater like playing the 4 song set in the Antarctic and recording a beautiful lie video to getting triple platinum with this is war, hitting the guiness world records do for most gigs played in one leg of a tour and blasting a song into space those days are long gone hope the next album is better 4 years ago when I last saw them they played like as tho a beautiful lie was back packing a stadium with an outstanding performance but this new album sounds like it's gonna suck balls
