I've seen several videos about the 30 Years War and this one is the most comprehensive and easy to understand of them all. Good job!

so comprehensive that the 30 years war actually started 50 years before that and just escalated into more after the first 50 years...

I don't know if I fully understand all the ramifications but Germany was ruined and depopulated during this period.

@@phann860 I know I said this was the MOST comprehensive video about the Thirty Years' War-not that it’s the first one I’ve seen or understood. I actually read a lot about this war while studying architecture in college.

Where there are plains, he drew there and only there mountains (on the riverside). He switched up Bavaria flag with Palatinate flag and also never did a mention of a certain military superpower who were as a heathen tortured christians of both sides and was actively fighting Austria. I like the graphics really much, but from a history view there's a lot room for improvements.

I think the death toll for Germany in proportion of the pop. is actually greater then WW1, it is often discarded but the 30 years war was incredibly brutal.

OK, they defeated in all these battles but what were the actual death toll numbers I mean obviously most armies live to fight another day. Was there some type of parole system and amount of time you had to lay down your arms?

The thirty years war was a disaster all round for Europe with these competing factions, I think it is what is happening in the Middle East since 2000, a lot of blood and misery until all factions are exhausted and some sanity occurs, but I won't hold my breath.

I am Swedish, and the 30's years war is important since it littrly started the Swedish dominance of nothern Europe until 1721 when Sweden lost the 21 years long war "the great nothern war". It's a big part of our history. Also west pomerania would remain to be swedish until 1814

like the video for its historical correctness (as far as short YT clips can do this justice) but why is it so difficult for American narrators to get prominent historical names right - Richelieu or Wallenstein; both names should be easy to get right (and even come with voice files on Wikipedia) and yet this American butchered them completely. ☹that was disappointing.
@greywolf75774 күн бұрын
I looked up how to pronounce Richelieu. The video gets it correct. As for Wallenstein, I guess he thought the W was pronounced as V in the native language. And "stein" is often pronounced either as "steen" or "st-eye-n" in English, so it is understandable that he would make that mistake.
