6:50 This vendor is absolutely correct. It is a store display to show with the full size sleeping bag. Mid size and large "discount" retailers would have these displayed over the sleeping bag section for customers to see. I took this part of our "camping and outdoors" section apart when my Kmart got remodeled. We once had one like this for a Michael Jordan sleeping bag, but another employee claimed it - but I bought the full size sleeping bag anyway, lol.

Anthony, this was a very nostalgic episode for me. When I was 12 and waiting for my little brother to be born, I too was reading Misery, and I also remember that I had the first issue of Mad that I was allowed to own. I was surprised to realize that I even remember the cover of that Mad magazine…it’s where Alfred E. Neumann is sitting on the beach having just built a large sandcastle. A wave comes in and washes away Alfred. I need to track that book down!

I am NOT a collector, but I got into comicbooks in the early 80s (I'm old) and a lot of the stuff you looked at I personally remember. I don't remember the presale card, but I remember rows and rows of figurines in the stores, that I didn't buy because I was just a kid in a huge family, and money was an object. Crazy to see this stuff now.

Last 2 sold comps for that TMNT skateboard are $55 & $75. Good thing you passed it up. One of those mini TMNT sleeping bags sold for $300 on eBay back in 2022! And that MIMP vhs goes for $100 sealed, graded, on eBay. Ugh, I know Froggy probably doesn't mind as much, but it makes me mad when people at shows just don't do any research and actually know the value of what they have. It makes it so discouraging to go to toy shows.

I remember the devil head and skull from carnivals as a kid. Could buy one for a quarter (which was a pocketful of money back then). The devil head, or something very close, was on top of the fortune telling machine in the Twilight Zone's "Nick of Time" episode, starring William Shatner.

When I was a kid in 1978, my friend who lived next door won a competition from a UK kids Saturday morning TV show called "Swap Shop." His prize was a set of Star Wars figures, comprising Luke, Leia, Obi-wan, Darth Vader, C3PO, Chewbacca, Han Solo, R2D2 and a Stormtrooper. I was so jealous at the time, though often wonder how much those figures would be worth now if he'd left them unopened and kept the correspondence from the TV show. (its my only consolation 🙂 )
