A rare malfunction when you were working on the heater controls, you held it out of frame 80% of the time. We got your excellent narration and a view of the table top. Very satisfying watching the peel and stick insulation installation. As always, a genuine treat to have you share your expertise.

This car will be so much nicer to drive then when it was dropped off at your doorstep. Not only fewer panels rattling and better sound deadening, but less wind whistling through the firewall and many other areas., I'm sure. Nice to see Daisy enjoying her castle!

All of my heater control cables for my 67 were original and frost up. When trying to free them up, the just fell apart. I ordered new ones, but don't remember how the cables were ran under the dash. So they are still in the parts box. Lol

Another part done...yay!! Your attention to detail is so nice to see. I never walk away from these videos without having learned a thing or three. The carpet mess is because the holes were initially drilled...I have done that same thing way back when I was first learning all of this fun stuff. A good razor and scissors are good to have around. Did you put deadener on the bottom side of the cowl also ?? I know it's not seen but more insulation from noise and temp extremes is always nice to have. The floors look great too🙂
@HotRodGuyGarageКүн бұрын
Thanks, I didn't put anything on the underside of the cowl just because i dont want anyone in the future to think anything is hidden there

About a year ago I rebuilt a heater box on my 80 Monza. It is an A/C car so that box is really tough to get out and back in the car. After I installed it, I found the heat wouldn't turn off. Thankfully I had a damaged box from another car I parted out. In looking at it, I realized I missed installing a spring that holds the heat door closed so it was constantly staying open. I looked around and sure enough, I dropped that spring on the floor so I totally missed it. I wasn't in the mood for removing and reinstalling the box so I became a contortionist and used a mirror and a pick and hook tool set trying to get that thing back in as the opening wasn't big enough for my hand. I was able to get it back in, but it took about an hour and a half of colorful language and effort, but it was worth it to not remove and reinstall the box.

Back in 1977, I had the pleasure of doing a heater core swap on my 67 Cougar. Very similar to the Mustang. Your video brings back memories! I don’t recall it particularly difficult, but I was a flexible 17 year old then.
@HotRodGuyGarage21 сағат бұрын
Cougar should be almost the same thing! Nowdays you spend a day just finding the heater box
@tint661Күн бұрын
Man it helps when you have the correct screws. That speaker will handle most radios and should sound good. I'm with you on that carpet. Not worth putting back in the car. To be honest with you, I bought carpet out of JC Whitney for my car when I was a teenager. I drilled the holes for the seat belts and did the same thing to that cheap carpet. I took a marker and sort of covered it up. Live and learn.
@HotRodGuyGarage21 сағат бұрын
Yeah it is a pain when you have to chase down the right hardware. Ive done the same thing with the carpet before a hot soldering iron is the way

When you rebuild something... You rebuild something! Very nice work! Just a little trick I have used for decades that might be of use someday. On parts like the heater control or in other parts in inaccessible places I use the spray motorcycle chain wax (which just cosmoline) to spray on the metal parts, so they never rust again. It may be the same stuff for sealing inside car panels.

I'm so glad I caught the beginning episodes by random happenstance. It's been a super educational and at times simply astonishing. I'm a little older so there is an nestalgia appeal for me also. Seeing that dash get trimmed out sort of hit a note with me. (My brother had a couple late 60's used Mustangs.) Anyhow, keep that eye for detail, and pats for Daisy.

Nice work Russ if you had been old enough the Ford Mustang production line all the better for having you in there workforce I did notice that the interior screw kit was made in the US that's got to be a plus so many repo parts for these cars does help out alot even if you have to fiddle with them.

I've used that stuff to seal up campers. Never thought about using it for mat. Oh by the way, those disks I got off eBay, I'm just starting to use them, but so far they are holding up good. 100 disks for 38 something. I think it was 42 after taxes. I'm only on my second disk so we will see.

ACP is pretty good, I'm surprised they wouldn't source a correct seal vendor, although it would be a good idea if the seals were adhesive backed to stay in place during assembly.

I did cover every inch possible inside the cabin with sound deadener. Even the roof, in the sail panels, behind the quarter panels, kick panels, the trunk divider, in the doors, everything. And then used aluminum tape over all the seams. Did I need to? Probably not. But once and done.

The new speed-o cable I got has a foam seal of some kind. I'm wondering if a rubber grommet would work better? Right now the old cable has some unidentified sticky goop being used as a sealer (yuck!).

Rubber will last longer in my opinion if you have thr cable removed id just open the hole up to the 67-73 grommet size
