As much as I'd like to see a 2024 Studebaker Avanti, I'd also like to see an 2024 version of the Hawk/Golden Hawk now that there doesn't seem to be anymore American made personal luxury cars like the T-Bird, Cordoba or the rear-wheel drive Grand Prix. I'm sure a V-8 engine from any of the Big Three could provide a decent amount of power for such a car.

We are shown photos of many random cars including inexplicably a Mercury Comet and nowhere is it specified which car is the 2024 Avanti, assuming there even is a 2024 Avanti and this isn’t all just a sham.

I had a 55 Studebaker with the 289 , 3 on the tree , 4bbl it would do 120 all day . In 62 I was too young to buy the R3 Avanti , now in 24 I'm too old , that really sucks , again can't afford one . Studebaker could make a come back with a hellcat motor , oh my GOD the trouble I could get into , it would need bigger meat on the road to handle that 707 HP .

I have a 1962 Hawk that was my parents first new car. As the story goes my father pummeled my mother for the Avanti but she being the tough strong person she was wasn't having it. The Avanti model are a beautiful automobile.

The GT Hawk was more of a personal/luxury coupe like the Tbird and Grand Prix. Avanti was trying to be a sports car build off of the Lark chassis, so yes, could be considered like the pony cars. The first Mustang was in 1964, but was 1965 model year.

This car had an Italian GT look. This car could have easily come out of a Ferrari or Maserati factory. The interior is also beautiful. So far above anything made in the US at that time. Guages and real wood etc. Fantastic.

I like the Avanti, but it was a Lark in a gilded cage. Had it endured as the product of a larger company, it would have likely received the upgraded engineering it needed. This video is nonsense, although I believe a car much like what Avanti was intended to be would do well in our strangulated market. I won't be holding my breath. Cars are now "designed" by government bureaucrats. Meanwhile, I will keep looking for an Avanti to buy. Despite its shortcomings and the revisionist history, it is a desirable car.

Wrong. It was personal luxury but unlike the dunderbird and terrible-nadoro and riveted front end Buick it had UNMATCHED performance and handling. Could stop as well where the other three failed. Had plethora of safety features other did not even offer for another decade or more. Top all that off with the most advanced cat design of the entire century, and it's not the big 3 in leadership-- it was Studebaker

Road and track inappropriately called it that .Lark in a guilded cage.. so incorrect. But a true statement would be this. The mustang was merely a falcon in a not-so- guilded Cage. Boxy and nearly powerless weak six banger. Mustang was half the price half the car and NONE of the Avanti performance. Barely able to match the Avanti R3 performance of 1963, even by 1969-70 in the mach one And 429 and other versions. And NEVER a mustang to match Avantis 170+ MPH top end. EVER .

R4 was normally aspirated with 12:1 compression, dual four-barrels, and a racing cam/ According to Avanti Motor Corporation literature from the early seventies, Studebaker never advertised horsepower ratings for any of the Avanti engines. Studebaker dealers Nate Altman and Leo Newman bought the rights to the Avanti name and designs, and very limited production continued until the late 1990. One of the original designers, Tom Kellogg, redesigned the Avanti in the late 1990s, adapting the Avanti design to a Firebird frame, and Kellogg's design was later modified to the Fox Mustang platform.

The R4 engine had two 4bbl AFB carbs and high compression, if I remember correctly 12 to 1 and the only factory installation was in a 64 Daytona convertible. The R4 engine was available after the fact, as was the R3 motor with a single super charger and a specialized sealed carb and housing. Both the R3, R4, and R5 engines were bored to 304.5 cid. The R5 motor, (a one off project) had the twin super chargers, Novi race fuel injection and other modifications to produce at least 500hp, though disagreements still exist even today about the actual hp. The last I heard was the R5 engine has been found but is incomplete and efforts are? (were?) still be conducted to complete the motor.

Studebaker built 4,643 examples of the Avanti, 3.834 '63 models and 809 '64s. Perhaps the total of Studebaker and Avanti Motor Corporation might have been as high as 6,000 units.

A MAJOR MISTAKE..............THE Studebaker Avanti ran a 289 cubic inch engine, which only has a "liter displacement" of 4.7, and the "5.8 displacement" would be equal to a 351 cubic inch displacement engine, such as that of a Ford 351 Modified,, Ford 351 Cleveland, and or Ford 351 Windsor engines!! BUT KEEP IN MIND, that Studebaker WAS its own company and THEY also developed a 289 cubic inch engine for their car line!! The main features of the Studebaker modified motor was a larger camshaft AND the addition (depending on option) was a supercharger that increase horsepower substantially!! And these options were available from Studebaker directly upon ordering your new car!! WHICH BRINGS ME TO ANOTHER POINT ABOUT TODAY'S CARS........back in the 1960s and 1970s and into the 1980s, YOU COULD order a car with different optional engines AND even transmissions......which NO LONGER in most cases is possible today!! THIS IS WHY, you find odd, rare or one off cars, that at times doesn't make any sense!! Like finding a 1967 Ford Country Squire station wagon with a 428 Cobra Jet engine with a stick shift in it, OR a 1969 Chevrolet Malibu four door with a 396 cubic inch engine under the hood!! And options lists back then were more "open" from manufacturers too!! Which is why you can find cars with limited slip rear ends or massive performance sway bars on cars that normally would not have them as big on things like Novas, Mavericks, Cougars, LeMans', and Darts! It isn't impossible either to find big block V8 engines in some Plymouth, Dodge or Chrysler cars either at times, with weird option packages as well!! This practice of ordering cars today is gone in certain aspects!! As you might be STILL allowed to option out "different interior colors" but you certainly can NOT order a V6 with a stick shift in most cars on the market too, and you certainly will never again find a car, or car company like a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord, offering big performance "upgrades" direct from the factory!!

Actually, there are a lot more Avantis around than Studebaker built. The rights, patents, and tooling were purchased when Studebaker went under, and production under various owners ran from 1965 until 2006, under the names Avanti II and Avanti. There's a company in India that is currently producing cars under the name Avant, but using a different design.

So much wrong info on the Avanti. No exception here. Whoever does this description Did poor research The Avanti alone set 29 world records, but the entire line of Studebakers set 357 such speed and endurance records. The records were NOT set by a twin supercharged engine. But a production single supercharged engine. That was 170+ MPH. A twin supercharged experimental version topped 198 MPH losing traction (at Bonneville )and failing to achieve it's 220 MPH potential. Please production people who put out these segments-- please get stuff info right. We Avanti owners would appreciate accuracy and call upon us for correct info. Thanks.

This voice doesn't know the true difference between the good old American design of Studebaker Company in times past. These so called modern designs miss Studebaker's original intentions of the automobile. I opened an original 1962 Studebaker GT Hawk with the original standard 289/ 2 barrel carburetor engine & 3 spd. tranny back in its heyday. One of the coolest cars I've owned. Also owned a 61 Studebaker Lark 4 dr, 6 cyl engine, automatic transmission. Another fine automobile. Studies were way ahead of its time in my my opinion & many others.

There are so many random Studebake models shown, that does confuse anyone. Sorry to say, I love Studebakers and it is a shame that the brand is gone. But in my eyes the Avanti was hideously ugly. The front is absolutely weird. We had one in our body shop and I never liked this car a bit. I am sure that the luxury and performance were amzingly good. But I can never get used to this weird front with huge frog eyes and a lack of grille.

Id been talking to the guy who supposedly has the rights to the nameplate, expressed some novel ideas i had on moneysaving production methods and was rebuffed. Id also seen abandoned plans from others on a nameplate revival, and all were very bland and terrible. Im a freelance artist and inventor, ive offered my services, and nobody ever gets back to me on it. Im feeling that all these people talking Studebaker revival are all talk, or worse. Ive invented quick assembly methods, and indestructible body panels made of recycled materials, all to save time and money... But nobody cares ... And here we go again. Another sauhaus as bauhaus design with nothing to set uniquely apart, as a stude/ avanti should be
