Hello. The links to the switches you used no longer works. I would be most grateful if you could repost them of respond to this message. I am close to pulling the trigger on LHY or Gustard switches. They seem awfully costly for switches that may or may not yield any results at all. Thank you.

Rather than measurements you choose to use your ears. Yes, I like your style and of course the way you present your findings. Always admire people who's willing to talk straight off the cuff. Idk I suppose one picks up on their enthusiasm. Well done

Fascinating video. Headquarter Audio has eached similar conclusions to you. Hot tip on the bang for buck stakes is the LHY Audio SW-8.switch. LHY also make excellent bang for buck master clocks.

This is great…..I wanted to test two streamers side by side and discovered this phenomenon. I now have a Netgear 5 gang switch on everything Ethernet…..main system streamer, secondary system and home theater. Makes a notable difference. Agree let your ears do the sound management. 😊

So I just did this modification with my mid to higher-end headphone rig. I had been running a single Dlink 108 for many years. I have seen another similar stacking Dlink thread in a forum but with an Ifi LAN iSilencer between the two switches which is what I did since I already own the Ifi. This was a noticeable improvement to the single switch and the Ifi plugged direct to my streamer. Many will ask what is the proof. I listen while I work as background music and been so for years. While focused on work I am not getting the fatigue I use to get at same listening levels. Yes, not scientific at all. But while focused on work I am not trying to hear improvements. Maybe not enough to convince others but I am adding two Dlinks to my main 2 channel system and relocate the Ifi Lan to between the switches. Cheap hack and worth every penny IMO.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. It really is as simple as you say - try for yourself. If it works - great. If it doesn't, then no harm.

It was 4 minutes into the video before I could figure out what type of switch you were talking about. “Switch” is a generic term. That being said, I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.

Is it always better to plug into a switch rather than into my router say with a long run of ethernet cable? My router when in my listening room does add noise heard when I listen to my turntable. Can I ameliorate things by putting my router in a room upstairs and plugging a switch into the wall in my listening room?

Maybe I missed this, but did you try two of the more expensive d-link boxes together? I could see how you’d go down the rabbit hole on this one…very interesting.
@GreekAudioGeek
@GreekAudioGeek Жыл бұрын
Hi Matt - I did. I didn't cover every combination in the video as it would have been over 1 hour long. :). It sounded a bit muted and lifeless with just the two expensive boxes. The $30 Dlinks added lifelikeness that could become too much once adding more than two of them and the $99 Dlink helped balance that out while continuing to increase the open and airy sounds of the switches working together. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

Thanks for your info, time and effort. On the DGS-1016D how do you have the dip switches set? Just using one of the smaller switches I hear a difference. I am going to insert the DGS-1016D next and then another smaller switch to see the differences as I add them in.

Sorry if I double posted, A) Why not use WiFi. Then there is no interference from the router? I guess it is less stable, but you can have it 15 inches away. B) Or why not download the media and run it though your local NAS? But 👍 for the switches, I ordered a 30 EUR switch and will try and add it in between my streamer and my 4G router 😁😁😅😅, but I guess my DAC needs a linear PSU first 😁

Hello! Thanks for watching. The Telegartner OPT BRIDGE I have in my Telegartner video is an optical converter that is much better than the FMC's I have tried. I am also going to be doing another round of FMC testing in the near future so be sure to subscribe.

What about using stramers built in wifi? Is there benefit of using cable? I am usin bluesound
@GreekAudioGeek
@GreekAudioGeek 24 күн бұрын
Hi - in almost all instances wifi (assuming you have a higher resolution system) will be inferior and subject to interference vs. a wired ethernet cable. Try your system and see if you can notice a difference. You may or may not.

Hi Brian I have watched your videos. What do you advocate in my situation? I have Verizon Fios coming to the residence on their cable which connects to my Wi-Fi router. Standard Ethernet cables connect from the router to Apple TV and to my AVR. I stream via Music Life app or chrome cast. Perhaps my situation is too simple to benefit?

I'm a big believer in experimenting as every system and system issues are different. The switches are cheap enough that I would experiment and see what you think. Remember - noise and interference gets into everything / all cables. Anything you can do to help fight it is a good thing.

I went from a basic TP-link switch to the D-Link DGS-108 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch, and to my pleasant surprise it made a difference going into my HiFi Rose streamer. More clarity, wider sound stage, nice audio hack.
