Not sure why Sony haven't done that yet, but I can say I actually prefer this attachment to the click in one from the PS4. Sure, it takes like 30 mins or less to do and does require you take out a couple screws, but it ain't too tough and it is a much better alternative to the $300 pro controllers :)

I work at an electronic repair shop and most of this stuff is surprisingly straight forward. I'm sure you would do a fine job but if you don't feel comfortable take it to a local shop, I'm sure they would be happy to install it for you. (When I say local shop I don't mean something like the Best Buy Geek squad.)

there will probably be a pro ps5 controller but for the price it's a very easy install and we only got the back attachment many years into the ps4 life time so honestly this is probably the bets thing

I thought I could customize the back paddle buttons more than just remap (like in Cyberpunk, being able to quick select certain weapon slots). It seems this and the Edge are just remapping which isn't necessary for me :\ plus the fact that I can't use my charging dock is meh. I wish Cyberpunk had more settings options for weapons and quick select certain weapons, blah.

The rise remapping kit sounds pretty great actually! I'd remap the back left to square to reload without taking my finger off the thumb sticks & the back right to "X" to jump without taking my aim off someone for a split second in call of duty or any battle Royale game! I think that's why people keep destroying me in those type of games so I wouldn't mind winning this if I am lucky! 😁 (it's a long shot but hey a chance is a chance)

ExtremeRate is such a great company. I highly recommend the ps5 Trigger Kit ( There is a mouse click one and a non mouse click version I have the clicky) and I have no problems with installation, the price, and using them. Disclaimer for people who don't know these are meant for FPS and shooters not any game that relies on trigger pull or haptic

These are awesome. I have had them from July 2021 and they have held up great. I mapped them the same as you and have definitely improved my game. My L2 on the controller if starting to fail, so it has outlived the factory components on the controller…………….I am going to get a new generation controller and kit to go along with it.

Hmmmm, i mainly would want it for L3 since every game loves having toggle sprint, and the smallest rock can stop u and cancel that sprint. But soldering, yeah ill pass. Guess dualsense edge it is.

@Matt notice how at the bottom left of the video it says "if you don't need L3 and R3 mappable, skip to [time]"? Well that's because the soldering is optional and only needed if you want to be able to map L3 and R3 to the paddles. You don't need to do it. Skip over that and it's super simple 👍

The only problems I've seen people really have are user errors during the installation. As long as you follow their installation guide carefully, everything should be fine and they last ages too.

They can be mapped to them IF you solder during the installation process. If you don't wanna do that, you could use the PS5 to map R3/L3 functions to the dpad or something, then map those buttons to the back.

I understand the moment you see the controller apart it looks complicated, but trust me, it really, really isn't (unless you want to map L3 and R3 to the buttons). The only 1 part that has ANY chance of going wrong is disconnecting the ribbon cable if you pull too hard. This was my first ever time opening up a PS5 controller, and I had to do itt whilst having to record it so I was stood really awkwardly too. Still, for my first time, I managed it. I fully believe 95% of gamers could do this without issue.

It's your fault if the controller doesn't turn on - you'll have done something wrong during the installation. When installing it, make sure you follow along with eXtremeRate's guide carefully without breaking anything. In this case, it sounds like maybe you didn't route the battery back in. Open it back up and make sure the battery is plugged into where it is supposed to be.
