I've gotten to a stage where no one says, "Your hair looks older than your face." At 66, my face matches my gray hair. And I'm more than okay with that. You stay positive and be okay with where you are and what you do. You are kindness embodied.

Whenever I am out, I try to give one sincere compliment to a person I deal with or pass by. Smiles are free to share. Holding a door for the person behind you gives you a 5 second rest to admire the world around you. Stopping to let someone cross in front of me gives me 5 more seconds of AC or Heat (both lacking in my house during various times of the year). Just being kind is enough. Keep sharing your light, Nikol, it is needed. And for all you beautiful ladies out there, when you receive a compliment, smile, say thank you and accept the gift you have just been given. I am looking forward to the fierce aging series also.

I want you to know that I so look forward to your visits on Monday and Friday. So much attention is given to the young. (clothing, makeup, style) It’s exciting to have attention directed toward our aging beauty. You’re more than a teacher, you encourage us to get up, try new things, get excited about where we are in life and in the world. For that I thank you. And, as for your hair, I have always loved gray hair. It’s what first attracted me to your channel. I’m 76 and wear my gray with pride. You’re beautiful, sweet, and we’re lucky to have you. Keep on keeping on!

I truly dislike commenting negatively or positively on someone’s physical appearance. Mostly, it’s because I have no idea whether the thing I think is beautiful is something making them feel insecure. You are absolutely stunning! I’m older than you, but you completely inspired me to go natural with my gray. I had to fight my own mother in the decision. She said SHE wasn’t ready for a gray haired daughter. I showed her one of your videos and told her YOU are my goals! You see, I have a terminal illness. I simply do not have the energy for all the hair work. My hair was to my waist. I shaved it off completely and let it grow back however it wanted. To my surprise, the lovely salt and pepper color came with natural curls. It’s loose enough to wear blown out straight, but tight enough to make loose coils. Two statements changed my life, and I hope they can help others. 1. Other peoples opinions of me are none of my damn business. 2. How others see us says more about them than it does about us. My mother can find something wrong with everyone she meets. My mother-in-law and I are more alike in our world view. We see something beautiful in everyone we meet. We both follow you.

@Boops God bless you. I've been chronically ill for 20+ years and bedridden for 10. My hair is really long because I only leave the house to go to the Doctor. Washing my hair is so absolutely exhausting that I'm embarrassed to say how long it's been since I've washed it. In fact I honestly don't even know. I've been seriously thinking about shaving my head. Like you said "Who has time for hair?". Maybe buy a couple wigs? For you to have to fight your Mom on such a trivial (in the scheme of things. I know hair is a Big deal) thing in your situation breaks my heart. As a Mom myself, I'm trying to give her the benifit of the doubt and say it's fear coming out in a horrible way. Thank you for sharing. It helped 1 person for sure. I wish you all the happiness possible for you in the time you do have. ❤

@@crisnemitz1606 Thank you so much for sharing your story. At most, I wash my hair every 7-10 days. It’s naturally dry and doesn’t really need it. If I knew what town you live in, I’d send someone over. If you have insurance, they can send someone to do it. If not, you may be able to find someone. Honestly, prior to the 20th century, people only washed their hair once a year. They used corn starch and other powders to absorb excess oils. Hair doesn’t need nearly as much washing as we’ve grown accustomed. Rosemary oil naturally cleans the scalp while promoting hair growth (at a rate better than minoxidil). Keeping hair in twists or braids prevents it from becoming overly tangled. There are numerous protective styles and caps and scarves used for centuries. This idea of daily hair washing is nonsense.

Same! My mother-in-law took the plunge to natural with me after sharing one of these videos. She’s positive without it feeling that the fake, toxic positivity forced upon us all. There are some days you just need a good cry, your bestie by your side, a sad movie, a glass of wine, followed by a funny movie and the rest of the bottle shared with your bestie. No one should ever be made to feel ashamed about needing some healing time. I love how she has compassion and positivity ready when we’re done licking our wounds and it’s time to face the next day. Days of self care are perfectly healthy.

It is so true that too many people feel perfectly okay and justified to tell others when they don’t like something about them. From personality to looks and everything in between. I posted pictures of myself wearing makeup for the first time in many years and a lady felt compelled to inform me that I needed to do something with my eyebrows. I just thanked her and let it go. This comes, I believe, from a me oriented society that values self above all else. But everyone is beautiful. I truly believe that. But people over time have began to believe that if something or someone isn’t pleasing or attractive to them that that makes that person ugly. But it does not. Some people just don’t consider the fact that their opinions are not all that is important.

What ever happened to "If you've nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all?" It really is still applicable, even in today's day and age! This phenomenon of women putting each other down, whether through jealousy, or just having a bad day is something that's gone on for far too long. If we can't lift each other up, what do we really have? Change your mindset toward other people, and you really will change your mindset towards yourself in a positive direction. Loving and caring isn't hard. Pass on love, and it's easy to love yourself. ❤️ Keep up your positivity, Nikol and thank you for being there for us!!

I received a really hurtful comment yesterday from my daughter in law. I saw it as a test due to the fact that earlier in the morning during my prayer time, I had made peace with (or thought I had made peace with) the fact that people have their opinions of you and there's nothing you can do about it, so why let it stress you. I discovered that I definitely had not made peace with it and this little test was God's way of showing me that I was not as secure about it as I had convinced myself I was, because it really hurt me. I told her so, but there was no way I could make her understand the depth of the pain ( it was really a nasty thing to say, disguised as "constructive criticism"). Guess I had to set that up so I could say thank you Nikol, for sharing this. I believe this was also a message from God to give me comfort. And now I can move on from it. God bless you.

I would love to have your gorgeous thick hair! And your brows, yes please! It sounded to me almost like a back-handed compliment that woman made. As some with RSD (rejection sensitive dyshoria) comments like that cut to the quick. I've just recently started following you, and as 62 year old woman who loves skincare, hair, and makeup, I'm enjoying your channel immensely. Keep up the great work! 🙏

Nikol you and your hair are terrific, sooo uplifting. I will be 70 years young, and as a forrmer model.makeup artist, I love makeup, skincare etc. You are an inspiration. Unfortunately, as some get older their thoughts drop out of their mouths like a gumball. LOL What a blessing another person appeared to lift your spirits. Keep up the great work !

Hey Nikol. Unfortunately, some mean girls never seem to grow up. I think most women have had to deal with female bullying that started at a young age and continues into adulthood. I truly have never understood it! I was raised to have integrity, respect, and politeness of others; however, this isn't often reciprocated by some other women (mean girl syndrome). Especially, if you are strong and independent. I love what you bring to table as a beauty influencer on KZbin. You are graceful, beautiful, strong, and genuinely care for your audience! Thank you for sharing both experiences. You have a tremendous following on your channel, and I know so many of us appreciate all that you are and stand for as a woman. Thank you, Nikol!!

One of your most attractive features (and they’re all beautiful) IS your hair! I love everything about it! Women who are catty are jealous and insecure. They take sick pleasure in that moment they give a backward compliment. Makes them feel powerful to watch the reaction. A good come back is to take beat, not smile, and respond by saying, “interesting.” Then turn your back and walk away. Works like a charm.

I had a very similar experience. I own and operate a retail business and transitioned to my natural color during Covid lockdown. A customer said a very disparaging remark that I believe she thought was humorous. It did sting a bit at first but I was able to overcome the words believing she spoke them in ignorance. Thank you for being such a huge inspiration to me and so many Nikol.

Your hair and brows are gorgeous! Some people are bitter by nature and lash out. Have had it happen a few times myself. Some situations just stick with you. With time you mature and get over it. It just takes time. A great bug hug to you for all your beauty and skills!

Oh Nicole, from the very first time I watched one of your videos, I thought you are such a beautiful woman, very inspiring, and a marvelous teacher. As for your hair, I think it is gorgeous. My mother, who had dark hair that started turning grey in her early twenties, taught me the old southern saying if you don’t have anything nice to say, keep your mouth shut. I much prefer paying someone a compliment and watching their face light up. It just makes my day. Sending hugs your way!

You posted this on my 73rd birthday. I still teach - yes - I love it. That's not why I am writing. I was at an event where a colleague's friend was also attending. She asked my colleague if I was young or old. First-off - what is "old"? My friend laughed and asked her why. The lady said I had a younger face and lots of energy, but my hair was silver-gray! Hmmm...I had students with silver-gray hair...LOL! Anyway, I would rather be defined by my "spirit" than my hair color. I am comfortable in my own skin...my "old" skin!!! Thanks for sharing Taylor's words!

I had a co-worker tell me to dye my hair. At that time I had decided to stop dying my hair. I wanted to see what it would be like if I grew it out. This co- worker was so anti-gray. I few years ago I started dying it again. I think it should be a personal decision. You look great! Some people are just rude.

Nicole - your hair is beautiful! I'm a bit older than you with less grey, I'm so jealous. My mother and grandmother had the most amazing salt&pepper then white hair. My mom tried to stay young by dying it but it got to a point it really looked silly being so dark. I don't know why people give unsolicited advice like that. Remember those comments are a reflection on her, not you.
