Sorry to post this here guys, but my last garage has given up on my car and nobody no longer wants to know. My issue is that the car won't idle properly, I have to pull upto a roundabout, or lights, and take the car out of gear and foot off the clutch, it will then hover around 650 - 750rpm. If I keep my foot on the clutch the revs go down even further to almost cut-out (it has cut out twice), the drive is lumpy, feels like driving around with the handbrake pulled up, it feels like the car is running lean. The garage thinks it's the CAIS air intake system leaking somewhere. I've changed the MAF to a new Ford Bosch MAF, changed plugs to new Ford RS plugs, oil + filter change, new alternator which was knackered anyway, The engine light comes on at times, and my OBD fault reader tells me that the "O2 sensor is slow to respond", so we changed the O2 Pre-cat sensor to a new Bosch one. We did a smoke test to the engine bay looking for air leaks, but a stationary car doesn't "Move" things like pipes or clips, we didn't see anything. There are no oil leaks, the oil that came out, before it was changed, was ok - nothing bad about the oil. One thing the garage noticed, the oil was a bit over the limit of top up, this is due to my eyesight not seeing that tiny max level on the dipstick. They did say that they didn't think that would cause my issues. HTC leads checked and volts checked, new Bosch S5 007 battery - the old one wasn't charging properly. All silicon pipes connected to the air intake system were taken off, cleaned, then put back on and the jubilee clips double checked for tightness. Because it's a CAIS it draws air from the very front of the car, and this isn't the best fitting we've seen. One thing that the garage did say was that the MAP sensor could be faulty, they think that can cause a lumpy drive. I'm totally lost. Don't really want to drive long distances but would take the risk coming to you guys when we are fully out of lockdown.
