A few years ago (Pre Covid) when Porsche was making the 991, I counted all the different versions of the 911 that was offered. There was 20. Because I'm such a Porsche nut, I can name all of them from memory. I have a uncle in California who has a 70's 911 SC targa. I've ridden in it, and it's glorious. I was always a bigger fan of the 928. Thank you.
@porscheguy0911 ай бұрын
All Porsche models have seen significant increases in their value over the last decade. Even the most unpopular models. The 912, 914 and 924 have seen values climb upwards of 50% or more for cars in varying conditions. The 928, 944 and 968 which were more popular than their little brothers have significantly increased in value and desirability too. More modern Porsche models like the 6 speed manual Cayenne GTS and certain versions of the Boxster and Cayman have been climbing in value. Overall Porsche values have been and are climbing with even brand new models becoming more valuable after being purchased. It’s crazy how much prices have changed.

As a former owner of two air-cooled 911s, I can tell you that the present market for the older cars is based more than anything on nostalgia, and not on the driving experience. A new car is so much easier to drive and more comfortable. Air conditioning that works. Power steering. A better ride. Better sound system. It's just better in every way.
@watda0113 жыл бұрын
As a current owner of a 1986 Carrera 3.2 l beg to differ. Nothing in today's market compares to the visceral driving experience an air cooled 911 offers and all at under the speed limit. The engagement and feedback is hard to match on any new car. It's why it's called a driver's car. If you want to feel like a passenger while driving buy a Tesla

@@watda011 You haven't driven the 992. I have. There's plenty of feedback. And I put 60,000 miles in a Carrera 3.2, in all kinds of conditions. I'd never go back. And since you have an almost forty-year-old car, my hunch is you don't drive it every day. Mine was a daily driver. It was reliable, but compared to the new cars, not nearly as comfortable or as easy to drive. And the performance of the new cars is light years ahead. There's also huge understeer built in to the earlier cars to compensate for the rear heaviness. That's mostly been engineered out now. You can always recognize the air-cooled cars. They're the ones with the windows open on the freeway.
@GarthGoldberg3 жыл бұрын
@@milchomarkov8158 The new car is not boring. It's awesome. Have you driven it?
@watda0113 жыл бұрын
@@GarthGoldberg are you seriously trying to compare the drivability of a 1986 carrera to a 2019 992? You may as well compare a Toyota Camry to it, and it will probably be faster, more comfortable, and a better ride. Your missing the point that part of the driving experience is the fact that it understeers, and you have to put the windows down etc. Compare any car with 33 years difference and you can't make any argument either way positive or negative.

What you have revealed today is just making me sad. I sold my 57’ 365 In 1974 to a guy that converted it to a Dune buggy. It sure seemed like a good idea at the time🤣 I sold it for the equivalent of $900 bucks. It was a trade! I gave him my Porsche and I got in trade a 1966 750cc Triumph Bonneville. I thought it was a good deal for me. I loved that bike and restored and rode it for over a decade. I miss that motorcycle more than the car. But I’m pretty sure the bike today in perfect condition would only brig in @ $12-15 thousand dollars. You see, figured with my 20 year old mind that because it needed brakes , a new exhaust and the seats were torn as well. The body was perfect and it ran like a top. I figured, what the heck I’ll trade it and put the money into the restoration and I did. What a dumbass I feel like. How much would my 56’ 365 be worth anyway ??? Oh well, live and learn. I’ve made worse decisions in my life. I sold my 1962 Fender Stratocaster for $1500 bucks in 2000 it’s worth at least $120,000 today. Again I’m a Nit Wit apparently. I still have my 1956 Gibson Les Paul in all original condition with the factory case and original receipt. I wonder what it’s worth now. I’m an old man now and if it’s worth a lot I’ll just put the money into an account for my Grandkids. Love the video keep them coming!! ✌🏻🇺🇸✌🏻🇺🇸✌🏻🇺🇸✌🏻🇺🇸✌🏻

One thing that I regret the most in cars is not bying a e32 M3 / same era M5 from Germany when they where cheap at early 2000's. You could buy one with just 2000€ / ~2000 dollars. We were bringing in motorcycles to finland from germany with my godfather who still has the business going but those were a steal. All the BMW's (along with other brands) with higher power and high emissions were a STOLE!. Finland hadn't got into band wagon with EU back then in moneytary system so we bought some 10 bikes and 5 cars / month. The old bemers were literally standing at people's back yards cause they didn't have enough or didn't want to pay too much money from them. They were honestly from 1000-4000 / pop! + the import taxes to Finland. Still all of those would be an MEGA INVESTMENT now... But you'll never know, do you.. The newer e46 and even the e36's are much nicer daily drivers but as colletctables, those where the ones.. Well, people can regret anything they want but investments aren't a good place to regret.. All that should have, could have, would have.. Still regret a bit for not bying one mint back then and keeping it, but bigger worries in mind... You know what I'm talking about.

But it was a fast car to me when I was at my 20's almost abour 20 years ago. He had it for some years and had to sell it cause it was really expensive to maintain at young age - and still would be! Anyways, the second time I drove it I did donuts with it and almost binned it to a lamp post when the front suddenly "catched", but managed to control it :D Fuck he was terrified, but I was more! I drove it about 260km/h on a quite straight road and at cornering was brilliant (as long as you din't anyone sitting at the "back seat". It was a genuine sports car from back from the days. And at early 2000 it wasn't even that old.. Fond memories of it. The owner hadn't driven it as fast as I did and was honestly scared to death.. We also took some drag races him against me with a my back then 750 gsx-r from 1993. So many fond memories!!! I honestly love everything that goes fast and I "should" have boon ritcher and wicer so I could have all the toys I now so desparately want!

On the economical side. 1- Rates are low. So for billionaires , you have to put money somewhere and a zero coupon or some deposit won't be enough. 2- Quantitative easing and others from of printing have diluted and created a huge mass of money. So inflation which probably value is way under-estimated , has sky rocketed. USD 1 Mio in 90's adjusted for inflation in USD 2.2 Mio of today. And this is adjusted as per official inflation. Inflation has a tendency to be naturally under-stated strongly. So the real number is probably way above 3 or 4.

I don’t understand. This is Porsche history lesson. I didn’t find any point that answers the titles question....

In the history lesson I discuss the creation of the RS and subsequent RSR, the bespoke nature of it's specification, and then in the pricing segment I show the exact upward trend of prices that led to the RSR sale for 2.45 million. I'm really not sure how else I could explain it any better.
