That's not controversial at all, the plasma cutter is objectively the best gun in the entire game and by focusing all your nodes on just it and your rig, it becomes an absolute BEAST of a weapon.

While not on impossible mode, I did a medium run with the Plasma Cutter only and it was a walk in the park. By Chapter 11, the gun and my suit was fully upgraded, I had a total of around 350 ammo for the gun, tons of medkits and over 250k cash. I'm actually planning to do an impossible run the same way, except I'm planning to pick up the flamethrower this time, since it's great for crowd control. And it's also great against the enemies that are problematic with the Plasma Cutter, like the Swarm, the Dividers and the Guardians.

@@MartinVRS41 Pretty much. I feel like it's a bit of pokémon syndrome (earlier generations). Instead of having 4 weapons you node out a bit and struggle to keep a decent amount of ammo for, you instead have a fully kitted out gun with the upgrades, always enough ammo because only one kind drops, and fixed ammo drops for other weapons can be sold for more medkits or whatever (which you also need less of since your gun's stronger and thus enemies are dead faster). Just like how Pokémon games become vastly easier if you just use one pokémon you put all experience, good moves and EVs into instead of struggling to raise 6 pokémon and having bad moves, few EVs and being underlevelled. Honestly was surprised to see a plasma cutter only run gets you a trophy considering how much easier it is than juggling 4.

Fun fact, Plasma Cutter only is actually the best way to complete it for multiple reasons. 1: When ammo drops, it'll only be for the weapons you currently have in your inventory, so with just a Plasma Cutter, you'll only get ammo for it. (The only exception is when you can get a new weapon, there will always be a couple drops of ammo near it, which you can just sell for credits) 2: You can upgrade your suit and gun faster cause you only have 2 items to upgrade, which can save a lot of time and money later on. 3: More inventory space to use. Since it's just 1 gun and 1 ammo type, you can have more ammo/health packs/ stasis packs available, and even pick up more conductors before having to sell them. 4: There's also a One Gun achievement, and we all know how fun going for achievements are.

For my Impossible run, I’ve been doing a simultaneous run on hard and doing parts of each chapter first on hard, and then immediately do the same thing in Impossible. It helps a lot! Edit: During boss fights where they throw the orange glowing balls at you, you can use kinesis to halt them and even throw them at the boss to do extra damage to it Update: Beat the game on Impossible my first try. It’s pretty easy if you use the line gun trap cheese.

It was definitely stressful as all hell, but I didn't actually find it super difficult. If you play carefully and mind where the instant-death traps are, you can get by with quite a few mistakes. Also worth noting playing with only the plasma cutter is actually *easier*, because you only find ammo for weapons you have on you when you kill enemies.

Unless you have luck like mine, where all you get is credits and stasis refills... then, once you utilize all those to try and survive, it gives nothing but small health packs around chapter 9... only to give you none of those when you go through them all and only give you ammo... I was either Broke, unable to shoot, unable to heal, unable to stasis, or any three-way combination for the entirety if the game. Edit; or if I'm really unlucky... nothing but O2 canisters during the Chapter aboard the USM Valor.

This can be really easy if you stick to using one gun. So I did this run with a Plasma Cutter only which made my pickups pretty much credits, plasma rounds and other loot. You also have more power nodes to upgrade your suit and plasma cutter. You also will have more money as well to invest in health packs and ammo if you're running low. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to give this a blast :D Also love the video! Keep up the content.

2 things: At bossfights, you can throw those yello bombs with telekineses back at the fuckers. Second, if you slow down those vent blades, you can just fly through anytime, even if they hit you nothing will happen.

I'd almost say the plasma gun only run makes this actually easier because you almost never have to worry about ammo. The only place that's not true is those darn flappy flesh things that grab onto you where you really want the flamethrower. Edit: also NICE use of the Dead Rising mall music.

I found "stasis and stomp" to be fairly effective on those little bastards. Exploding tanks, even better. Thankfully they don't do nearly as much damage in the remake as they did in the original so even if you get caught it's not necessarily a run-killer.

Ngl i wish they brought back the impossible difficulty modifier from 2008 dead space and then made it one life. Imagine how stressful it would be to be on a harder difficulty with changed encounters AND one life. It would be so terrifying. IMO hard was a bit too easy, especially if you use the toggle aim run speed glitch

Kinesis and Stasis are your best buds in this game, especially on impossible. Use them every chance you get (and you get many, many chances). It makes impossible mode so easy. Stasis and stomp goes hard - if there’s a stasis recharge station, you don’t need to fire a single round. Stasis and stomp spam to victory. Use kinesis on EVERYTHING, vent fans, leaper tails, blue-ringed pipes (da real mvps), fire extinguishers (especially good against lurkers), slasher limbs, throw everything and the kitchen sink at the morphs. Make a stash of kinesis objects before a big fight, carry kinesis items with you if you don’t mind walking slower from room to room, and before long you’ll be swimming in extra ammo that you can store for later or sell if you’re sure that you have excess. Practice navigating environmental hazards and one-hit-kill situations in a hard mode run before your impossible run, it’ll help. Lastly, save often. I ran into a couple areas where I got stuck on nothing and while I was able to dislodge myself with a kinesis throw directly at my feet, it took a few attempts and this happened during a big twitcher battle in episode 9. I could have easily been screwed and thought I might have to cheese it and reboot the game, but luckily it all worked out. Still, it’s best to save often just in case this happens.

The only truly nerve wracking part of this mode, aside from the tougher encounters, are all the one-hit environmental hazards. The fans, the stasis doors, the USM Valor warhead room, the centrifuge. I was nauseous just thinking about having to outrun the centrifuge apparatus in chapter 3 lmao

Plasma Cutter was hands down the best gun to upgrade. Especially with the upgrade that does continuous damage slowly over time. When I got this trophy I primary relayed on the plasma cutter. Used the pulse rifle mostly for the special ammo shot and the flamethrower as well. Completely doable! And stasis is your friend.

I recently finished my 3rd playthrough of the game and fell back in love with the game, so I tried doing an Impossible run, and tbh it was really easy, maybe its just bc I had played all the DS games already but as always Stasis, using kinesis for necro blade arms, and knowing who to target makes the game pretty easy. Plasma cutter has always been the best gun in the series so I used it exclusively for a ton of ammo, got a ton of power nodes to max it out along with the suit and you’re pretty much good to go for the entire game. I did die a single time, however it was at the part where you put a beacon on the ore ball and launch it to space, the moving things killed me while it was on the other side, I went through it when there was nothing and immediately died, so I paused and restarted the game, other than that part everything else was really easy, by the end I had 200+ ammo and like 7 large health packs.

Impossible mode is hella easy man, I just did it. I followed the same formula as before, Epic Tier 3 Engineer! Beat the game on impossible using only the plasma cutter. Just use the plasma cutter, upgrade the shiat outta it, upgrade your RIG ASAP, and you’ll be golden! Impossible mode is so easy.

Honestly beating the game on impossible mode is actually way easier than you may think. Granted you have the durability of a wet noodle until you get some suit upgrades to increase your health. Plasma Cutter is by far the best and only weapon you really need since you'll acquire the upgrades for it early on, and if you also decide to go for "beat the game using only the Plasma Cutter", you'll easily max its stats out and because its the only gun in your inventory - ammo is plentiful. Impossible Mode actually punishes you for having more than 1 weapon since not only are you going to be seeking out those guns upgrades and scrounging money to afford said upgrades (10k a node), but the game will disperse ammo between your guns randomly which will make finding ammo for your best weapons harder. Not to say that you CAN'T use more than 1 weapon, but you'll find it much easier if you focus on 1 as you'll be practically drowning in ammo, which is why Plasma Cutter is the best option - you'll max it out as early as Chapter 4-5, find ammo super easily, and all your spare credits will be going to either medical supplies, power nodes or buying your next suit upgrade. Also one neat bonus is that unlike NG+, you won't have to be on your toes as much for random Necromorph attacks, which are sporadic in NG+ but you can still be caught off guard by a surprise ambush where previously there wasn't one.

I found impossible mode quite easy. Its basically Hard mode with a permanent dead added to it. As long as you save a lot and exit to main menu when you're about to die its a breeze. Also focus on the Plasma Cutter only, and you'll have you Rig and weapon fully maxed out in chapter 8 or so.
