Great review. I went to a John Gomm clinic recently (he worked with Blackstar on the design of the Sonet), he used 2 of them to great effect, the sound was superb in a live setting.

I love this. Haven’t had much experience with the Orange Crush. But this sweetness and clarity of the Sonnet is gorgeous. Still want that Sonnet 120 for more controls but the 60 still sounds amazing and packs a punch!

@@JohnPaulMusicUK Harley Benton (Joyo) also has a good 60 watt one but with a rechargeable internal battery and three vocal / instrument inputs and Bluetooth as well.

The Blackstar has almost everything the Orange, Roland, and the Harley Benton (Joyo) has excèpt the built-in battery, effects loop, bigger speaker. The power bank for the Blackstar is about $86 or so extra. It's still cheaper than the Roland and the Orange after getting the power bank. The Blackstar's speaker is tiny but it is bigger than the Harley Benton (Joyo); and unlike the Harley Benton it can be angled like a wedge. One thing the Sonnet 60 does not have though that i would of liked is a effects loop that the Orange has plus the Orange has a 8 inch speaker. For that I would need to upgrade to the Sonnet 120.

Oh man, it’s a shame the low cut effects both.. I get you want it on the guitar for rhythmic parts but the vocals need a cut, the felt a bit boomy in the lowend in headphones. Am I right in saying you use a “voice live”? Can that be routed through the amp to get more control over vocal EQ?

Yes. I use a TC-Helicon Voicelive Play Acoustic so I could in theory plug that in and have much more control. 👍🏻 Yeah more options on the Sonnet 120. I keep leaning towards that one.

Hey man i have a blackstar acoustic core 30. I connected a trrs to trrs cable with the 3.5 mm adaptor attached to my iPhone 13. However i get a buzzing noise !!! Please help x

Mine did the same thing, So I got a cable for the usb out and went direct into my phone using the right cable and it worked great. My phone is a Samsung. So the phone end of the cord was a usb-c the other end was the mini-usb out on the amp.

Yeah I’ve noticed this trend. Advantage is not bumping your settings I suppose as they are sunk into the amp a little.. but your right, it’s not like a traditional amp. Haha.. on the back.. 😂 it’ll be no controls and just on an app next! 😆

How do you use the USB to record a video on your phone? Can you only do live streams? I want to record videos on my camera, will it not do that?

It’s a usb audio out so I’m sure you will be able to get it to your camera. Yes the Audio you heard was from the USB. So USB to Apple Camera Adapter and then plug in. If android you might be able to go in without an adapter.. but yes it will work for recording as well as live streaming. 👍🏻

@@JohnPaulMusicUK I recently bought the amp and have tried to no avail. I just emailed black star for insight. I plugged my android into the amp and recorded a video a few times. Each time the audio would only play as long as it was plugged into the amp. If I replay the videos unplugged from the amp there is no audio at all. There's no through instructions online Wich implies to me it should be pretty straightforward and easy so idk what the problem is.

The guitar sounds great but the voice and mic sounds bad and muffled ! Thats put me off the item completely

Could be the mic I’m using. My advice would be to try one with your own setup from either a store or somewhere that has a good returns policy. You can of course tweak the eq.
