It almost doesn’t matter how short a project is, I always use it. Cutting silences and bad takes is something I don’t want to waste time on ever again. :)

Hell yeah, I just figured this out on my own! I do a similar thing with Recut...and it's a one time payment The Multicam workflow makes me so happy every time I use it

Agree! But Recut is more similar to time bolt than to gling. I was using time bolt to cut the silence. This is a one-time purchase, too. However, text-based editing is so freaking fast for tutorials. 🚀

Awesome! Thank you for showing this workflow Eric! Definitely going to try Gling now. I hope you'll create more content related to creating TH + screencast tutorials (the mCamRig video also was great 🙏) I noticed all the 'Density MCC' Multicam names in your tutorial timeline. Maybe you'll find these settings helpful: 🎞Timeline clip appearance: Angles on, Clip names off. That way you can see what angle is shown without having to click it.

​@@iamericlenz 😀👍 There’s more 😁 I also order the angles the same way every time so that I can easily hover the multicam clip and Option + 1,2 or 3 to change the angle. The angles I create are Talking Head (Your A-Cam), Screen and TH + Screen. That last one is a compound clip as 3rd multicam angle that contains the TH as PIP in the bottom right corner of the screencast.

I'm still leery about uploading content to a third-party, and while I'm sure this saves time on balance, there's still so many steps. Here's hoping that Apple is pushing into AI results in something like this that can be done natively. The tech is there.

I agree! But I think it will take a while. Craig Federighi just said it again in an interview, “We don’t want to be the first, we want to be the best.” So text-based editing is something we might see in FCP 11 which shouldn’t be too far out (I think). :)

Cool! But, isn’t the Gling export and the screencast video recording different lengths? How then is the multicam synched correctly?

Yes, the Screencast goes inside the multicam. The multicam clip gling exports is already cut. But the nature of a multicam is that it contains all the angles in their original length. Since everything is synced to the audio I used in gling, the cuts match up. You should look into multicam clips specifically to really wrap your head around that. :)

@@iamericlenz GOT IT! So the CUTS made by Gling are you in your project, but the source file Gling uses in FCPX is the full-length file! So so long as multiple sources (a multi-cam interview in my case) are all the 'same length', I'll have no problem entering the Gling-created multi-cam, and add the angles of my other cams and audio sources! DUDE!

How does it compare to Timebolt?

I have used Timebolt before Gling. Timebolt is fantastic but it only removes the silences. Gling on the other hand automatically cuts bad takes and transcribes the whole video so I can edit text-based. That's waaaaaay faster for me. :) I stopped using Timebolt and only use Gling for everything I do. :)

@@iamericlenzI use Timebolt and a dog clicker. Shows me spikes where I made a mistake and clicked on the dog clicker. Takes about 1-2 minutes to visually see these. Practically zero cost.And yes, I do use a teleprompter, got used to it naturally. I make 3-4 mistakes for every 5 minutes.

Maybe I Missed it in this, but if my audio and video are different files, should I sync and export first, or is there a way to sync audio after?

All syncing happens inside the multicam in Final Cut Pro. Gling doesn’t sync anything. i just used the audio file in Gling. Hopefully that makes sense. :)

@@aaronglynnwalker this, and I'm filming with my A7III which has this nasty 29min record limit. My audio recording is the only one-take-recording I have. It isn't necessary for Gling since you can add multiple files, but I like things tidy. :D

@@iamericlenz I guess what im not understanding is, I have the XML, I import it into FCP, it has a Multicam file, but how do I get the video in a Multicam file that is already setup with the audio? there's no way that I know of to add the video into that nested area.

Sorry Rian this is the first time i "UNLIKE" you. Why make Premiere more extended... I always render in Media Encoder... Because that's the program for rendering. Thanks to Adobe I now have an extra step... Every time I open a new project or when going to render. Why do they want to look more like DaVinci Resolve. If Adobe want me to use DaVinci... I want to make my own choice and till now... I still use Premiere... 😢

Hi Hans, I don't quite understand what you're saying. My channel has always been about Final Cut Pro. I don't have Premiere, therefore, I don't make videos on that. :)

Good point! For one, they need a license to be able to process your footage, but it I agree, the terms could be more specific on that.

@@iamericlenz the terms are pretty specific of their ability to use which is why it’s so creepy. I took a look at the terms of Descript and it is very clear that they don’t have the reserve right to use our content but still are able to process the footage. Gling reads overtly poor: 3.2 License. You hereby grant (and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant) to Company an irrevocable, nonexclusive, royalty-free and fully paid, worldwide license to reproduce, distribute, publicly display and perform, prepare derivative works of, incorporate into other works, and otherwise use and exploit your User Content, and to grant sublicenses of the foregoing rights, solely for the purposes of including your User Content in the Site. You hereby irrevocably waive (and agree to cause to be waived) any claims and assertions of moral rights or attribution with respect to your User Content.
