This is my least favourite of the 4 but I don't hate it. I think it was the wrong song to release as a single because it's almost giving people who say "architects are going soft I hate them" more ammo. I like the new direction, just not this song
@nicholascurry8732
@nicholascurry8732 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree with you, but they could be dropping all of their softer songs from the album first so when they drop their album more of their fans are happier with the album. But they also could be just putting out the songs to make a statement that this is the direction they plan on going. As much as I am sad to see them going this direction, I also don’t mind it. The reason being is that my wife enjoys more of this kind of rock/metal sound, she Is definitely not into their heavy stuff haha.

This is the most boring song on the album, hands down. I really have no idea why they decided to release this one as a single. Giving Blood has a similar hard rock vibe and it would have been a much better track to tease the album with. There's honestly a fair bit of versatility on the album, and they're really not showing it with the singles.

@blakewarford1168
@blakewarford1168 3 жыл бұрын
I see your point, but you also have to remember that in the scene specifically BMTH are the best example to go to. Also, they kinda started the radio rock route in the Metalcore scene with 'That's The Spirit'. So like sure, you could say, hey they're sounding like 'Three days grace, or Breaking Benjamin' but that just wouldn't make sense because they're scenes/genre's are naturally separated. So basically when talking about a band in metalcore, yeah, BMTH is the best example for comparison. Though, wait until you hear 'Libertine' from the album, because that has Three Days Grace written ALL over it

@@blakewarford1168 Absolutely agree. It doesn't matter if they invented radio rock or not. The fact is they're really popular in that mainstream rock/metal so comparison is fair enough. @@Thumpershots That's true. There're a lot of people that think like that. Maybe it’s to add a mix of something new and soft among other songs that are more heavier. This song is relaxing, and something to chant with the band. For me not everything has to be head banging, dirty rifts, and disgusting breakdowns good. As long as it’s and something new and fresh. Maybe I listen to too much metalcore and It’s like that saying: eating a stake everyday gets boring but eating a burger once in a while spices things up. Idk maybe I’m just talking out of my ass. Im a (somewhat) complete newcomer to architects. The first notable thing about this song was defo the BMTH influence, proving that they are always ahead of the curve whether you like it or not. Kind of ehhh at first. But in all honesty this sounds like what 30 seconds to mars should be making this late into their career. very epic scales, spacious and somewhat generic ambience, i love it

I'm with you, I liked ths first 3, but really can't get behind this. I share a similar opinion with all of them though: after one listen, I feel like I got everything the song had to offer. At least there were interesting elements to the other 3 that will occasionally pull me back, but this just feels like a typical SXM Octane "hard rock" song. I love this band, and they're all incredible musicians. I just want them to start showing that again.

Libertine, Impermanence, Animals, Black Lungs, and Discourse is Dead are the only somewhat gritty songs on the album, I dont hate the newer softer songs but they should be maybe 2-3 songs on the 1st album in the new direction, not half the album.

I enjoyed this still but it’s definitely my least favourite of the singles! I’d much rather them be trying some new stuff and maybe not nailing every try (even though I wouldn’t call this a miss at all) when they nail Dead Butterflies, Animals and Black Lungs. I also still don’t believe this sounds like BMTH but that’s just me

Supports new style changes, music development and new directions - (Band tries doing exactly that) - Everyone shits on it. Just dont stray too far from your roots and you can still do and incorporate new things. I dont know why noone understands this. But on the terms of the new architects album, i like it but its not heavy enough for me personally.

I love the life out the Dead Butterflies, it is so big and chilling. I don't like this song, listened to it for the fourth time in the hope I found something redeeming... But after the fourt time, I only like the switch up of the drums... but will probably never like this song...

It isn’t a typical Architects song. I don’t honestly have an issue with this song. It isn’t Animals, and it sure as fuck isn’t the masterpiece that HH was, but it’s not the worst song that they’ve ever released. If anyone remembers, BMTH released That’s The Spirit and everyone was let down, then Post Human comes out and everyone’s head explodes. This could be an evolution for them, one that ends up meshing into future music. Idk. Also, if I remember correctly, you (Hard Core) weren’t the biggest fan of Black Lungs. Now you love it? If the song grew on you, maybe other songs will too. Probably not this one, let’s be honest it’s just there to exist, but other songs could be. Don’t let your hopes get down too much.

I’m with you. I love architects, their new album is definitely supposed to be different which I’m not against. There are no screams in this song, and it’s way too repetitive. Not that those are automatically bad things. Just from seeing what architects has put out before, this is sub par. The music itself, the melody, drums, riffs, I’m with it. The lyrics and the singing I can’t mess with either all that much

Black Lungs is really the only single so far that I am into. I have always hated the whole "its not the same as their old stuff" argument because it is NEW music and should't be the same as older stuff, but this just doesn't captivate me like Holy Hell did. It isn't a bad song, but it just seems a little generic for a band who pretty much revolutionized modern metalcore with All Our Gods Have Abandoned us and Holy Hell

Great reaction man good solid opinions but a side note and not necessarily about you but... I hate when people get fed up with bands going in new directions like it was their decision maybe they grew out of their old sound, maybe they couldn’t come up with anything good matching their old sound maybe they want to experiment for a bit, the point being if you don’t like them either stop listening to them or just listen to the stuff you liked by them, people need to remember bands don’t make music for their fans they make music for themselves we simply decided we liked it and became fans. Good artists make music because they love to not because they want fame.

The lyric, ". . . pushed the last domino, before the apocalypse" kinda just killed the song for me. It just doesn't flow well at all to me and the gap between that line and the rest of the break accentuates how awkward it is. I swear if they stopped at "domino" it'd feel a bit better. I really wish I didn't feel as though the small nods to old lyrics with the "beggars belief" wasn't just there to draw interest to cover for the rest of the blandness of the track and how little of "uniquely Architects" sound is left in it aside from Sam's vocals and Dan's drumming.
this is the heaviest thing i've ever listened to.
