No other anime was even close (mushoku barely entered in my top 30 😅) After almost 900 anime completed, 86-EIGHTY-SIX is the only anime i gave a perfect 100/100. Enjoy reading the light novel. You won't be disappointed. It gets more amazing with every single volume

Glad to another person talk about 86, I honestly believe that this anime is one of the best to vome out in recent years. Minor error on Shin's power. He didnt receive it from when his brother almost killed him, its a genetic bloodline ability of the Nouzen clan from his mother's side. Whether or not his near death being a factor is possible, but ultimately not the cause. It was clued when Anette told Lina of the Para raid origins, that Shin and Shourei's mother had telepathic abilities. The siblings and the family often played around as experiments to see the extent of the communication. Then the war happened and yeah the playful experiments went to hell real fast for progress. Its why in the flashback Shourei was in grief when they could no longer 'hear' or 'feel' their mother's thoughts, being that it became silent. An important aspect of the Para raid that differs from being just a glorified radio, is that it shares the senses. Lena needing an attachment to her Para raid to increase her thought scope of dozens to thousands, her being able to momentarily see through Raiden's left eye at the risk of brain damage as examples.

Glory to the Spearhead Squadron and All Hail the Blood Queen! 86 was one of the best anime I've seen in a long while, and I hated the break, but episode 22 had me in tears from the moment Lena stepped over the Letterboxed aspect. And episode 23 had one of the most cathartic and hard hitting lines in recent memory: "It's been a long time, Handler One."

I liked how Fredrica is, while on the surface, loud, childish, and a little obnoxious ('cause she's a child, of course, right), she's actually quite sensible and unusually mature in the moments that matter. Like, the way she considered keeping the Spearhead squadron in the safety of not going to war "trapping them in a cage of pity", is quite interesting. It's quite impressive how someone her age actually has a mature and fundamental understanding of what they feel. Also when she acted like Shin's little sister in that once scene she was pretty cute. For a moment I was like "I'm sorry, but she's cuter than Anya" lol

The soundtrack for 86 was absolutely god-tier in my opinion. Even the orchestra god himself Sawano Hiroyuki composed it, and if that doesn't tell you how good the anime was then I don't know what will. He's single handedly responsible for Attack on Titans success, and why it's so popular. I highly recommend listening to a few of his works, "Voices of the Chord" and his Symphonic Suite "[AoT] Part2-6th:ThanksAT"

Really liked how you didn't just blindly praised the anime in your video. The title and it being your AOTY 2021 already says enough. The more neutral or comedic / sarcastic parts of your video gives you more than just the perspective of a superfan. Personally it was a 10/10 to me (which I only gave to 5 other anime out of 400) but only after rewatching it once, during the week before the final episode. Before the rewatch I remembered it as a solid 8/10 in my mind, like I saw it has a lot of potential and some amazing moments but I could also see the issues/ problems one might have. But idk something just clicked in me after starting my rewatch and I was super hooked from the first episode til the end. Scenes I dismissed or didn't even noticed during my first watch suddenly had so much more impact to the point where even Kujou's death (the very first one of their squad) had me in tears.

I was watching this weekly as it was coming out and I could see how good the cinematography and music was, I just knew I was missing things and wasn’t getting the full experience, so I stopped halfway through the second part. I went back and watched the whole thing and really took in all the messages and character arcs and saw that it was actually incredible and had me crying a ton

I ALSO wanted them to hold hands!!😂😂😂 That aside, 86 was a really good anime. Everything was beautiful. The music made it feel like a kdrama sheesh!! So cinematic, and relevant to things that happened in the past and even right now if you look closer.🌹 For me personally, as a person living in a third world country, Lena's character was relatable...not really in the 'fighting a war and trying to be good to each other' sense, but in the sense of...she envisions an ideal society where people get equal chances to live and experience life. There's a lot of problems in reality and that vision always looks near impossible, and people telling it to your face don't help...someone can really be caught up in despair over that. BUT that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to do anything, and she finally proves that point when she's able to keep the 5 last 86 members of the Spearhead squadron alive long enough that they can run off and live to fight another day. Even though she didn't know it. And she also learns to take care of future 86 squads that she commands and be more efficient in battle.⚡️ I'm reminded of our nation's state everyday through the news and what happens around me, and it doesn't help that Africa is still being used as a resource mine by others, where many people are stuck in the mindset of needing aid, and not many are empowered enough to know that they CAN offer something good and build their communitites...because their communities DO need help, but that doesn't mean i can't continue to dream and take the steps to ACTUALLY help my country out, little by little, in the way i am enabled to. This anime reminds me why i make it a point to 'get out of my head' after i dream and actual GO OUT and do stuff. And i know I'm not the only one trying to. And that's good🌹

Hey just watched your vid and honestly it was summed up so beautifully. I really love this show and it's now my top anime in action/sci-fi along with Fruits basket for the romance. The soundtrack was some of the greatest things I've experienced in my life. Episode 22 came in and left me stunned, hollow, sad, happy and a whole lot which i can't even word out. I really needed this episode as i myself was going through a time and the words Lena said to shin somewhat applied to me as well. The joy i felt when they finally met in ep 23 cannot be described in words. My eyes were literally hurting because of my ugly crying. Honestly i can't even imagine the level of quality we got after countless production issues. The staff loved the show just as much as we did. Anyway sorry for all the rambling i did earlier but i really want your on SHADOWS HOUSE. It's such an underrated gem. Thank you and love from india.

Aren’t you kinda misinterpreting shins character tho? Wasn’t his reckless behaviour cause the fact that he didn’t have anything in him, he didn’t have any purpose ever since he killed his brother, that was the only thing that drives him back on season 1 and not just that, he was literally tired of seeing his comrades die and leaving him behind, especially on episode 6, when shin found out that the san magnolia was under attack by the legion and probably made an assumption that Lena died, especially since Lena is a very important person to him since she’s literally the only one who has a memory of his own brother as he can’t even remember him himself. He didn’t care about the discrimination at all since he was used to it, but more likely the fact that he didn’t have any purpose in life and the things that he wanted to look forward to in the future. He has none of those.

commenting this but since you mention u picking up the novels i suppose you already know the questions asked in the vid. so this is for those that still didn't know. the legion cpu are supposed to permanently shut down after 6 yrs of activity. the reason the alba just wouldn't think the threats were serious enough. what they didn't know is that the sentient legion found a way to replace these expiring "cpu"s, by harvesting the most advance neural network that's readily available to them, which are brains. the other one is that alba didn't switch views overnight. there was already discrimination against minority even before the war. remember how shin's family were one of the few that lives in the inner district? its partially because his father was also scientist. in the first place the government passed the dehumanization law in times of desperation because "its the will of the people". iirc when the empire declared war, the republic lost 80% of its land, millions of its forces, there's also food shortage. They blamed the minority of espionage. "if you're colored, you're one of the babarian empire who caused us this misery" -this was most people's mindset then and the government figure that they could restore stability of majority if they shifted the blame on the minority. please read the novels

Thus imagine if LEGIONS Get the brain of the General then thier forces will be off the sky... and imagine what would happen if they have 1000 of general Brian in their Ai Robots... that's too powerful... aginst the sky lol... that's why shin shoots their Brian .so even if they(legion) comes to collect Brain it will be no use since it's damaged.... Take shin's brother ....they got their brother brain undamaged and he caused nightmare

I can see what you mean, some details missing from the light novels would make it clear but it focuses on 2 people living in 2 different worlds that end up coming to see the world from the others point of view, Its hard to see as this develops better in the light novels following where the anime leaves off, (anime is light novel 1-3 with there being 11 light novels out with the 12th on the way)

​@@DuckyLM guess i need to elaborate. look at the main premise. guys get forced to fight for their oppressors: why dont they fight back (risky option cause of mines) or just run to one of the other countries (even gets mentioned that there are other countries). their reasoning for fighting is plain dumb "well, if we have to die, why not die for our oppressors who treat us like pigs?". the fact that not a single one finds this line of reasoning absolutely moronic is way too unrealistic. also, the plan of the albians is bullshit. why would you waste the soldiers and do it like the romans did aka have others fight your war while getting complacient. 1. why not say "fight for us and once the enemy is defeated become a full citizen" instead of the 5 year bullshit. 2. then you wouldnt have to waste valuable equipment and your most experienced soldiers. they are already down to children, they dont have many 86 left.... 3. they have very advanced technology. is training and sending the people you oppress really the best they could come up with? how about remote controlled units? that way you can train your own albian soldiers and still not risk a single albian life. and you have the 86 to slave away in manufacturing if you really wanna oppress them. although the story makes it look like it was a necessity and the risk of news of their oppression getting out is a huge risk for the country. if the BASE PREMISE is already this dumb, then its hard to enjoy the show.

They didn't have the time to build their mechs, you can see it with the poorly designed juggernauts, in which the 86s can't even see the battlefield properly and the fact that the machines can be destroyed in one shot by a löwe or a grauwolf. They aren't that strong compared to the ameise either
