Many people don't know those range elephants are similar to archer. Mass knight would kill them, they have +3 melee melee armor. +10 range armor after upgrade. Spamming crossbow is not the way unless OTD xbow. People get mix up with war elephant, they counter cavs and infantry, they have 3 range armor after upgrade so they die more quick with crossbow.
