Yes... netting strikes again!
This young cub is the latest in a long series of fox cub entanglements here at Wildlife Aid. Although the little vixen was very feisty and bright, she had not quite escaped unscathed and the clock was ticking to try and get her back home...

Netting should have huge warnings on the actual product. Poor defenseless animals losing their lives due to netting is needless.
@Wal48
@Wal48 2 жыл бұрын
That’s a good idea. Seems like every time Wildlife Aid is called out, there is another animal caught in netting and some people who had no idea it was a problem! Maybe a warning on the product is one way to get the message out there!

Saw in the comments the idea that we should start a campaign emailing companies to place warnings on netting--so here are just a few located in the UK that we could contact: AgriFrames, Harrod Horticultural, Wire Fence, Gardening-Naturally and William James & Co. Unfortunately there's hundreds more but it's a start. So glad the little pup is ok and back with her family--wonderful work as always!

I rang you guys up last Sunday about a hedgehog, I found it in the middle of the road at 10:35pm on Saturday; it had a twisted back leg. When I spoke to reception, she said I was too far for you to come out to, I live in Surrey but don't drive, she gave me a telephone number for a charity called "Happy Hedgehogs"."Happy Hedgehogs" were useless so a local vet fortunately took it; I thought you covered all of Surrey?

Is there any site where one could watch more thorough videos on a variety of cases? Basically the TV show you apparently used to do. Especially the fox cubs that you care for long term I'd be delighted to see a documentary on.
@traida111
@traida111 2 жыл бұрын
well there are some good ideas there. They do long term projects such as the fox cubs and also the badger cubs. They could get a film crew to record the progress over a long period of time and release a long video like 1 hour long or something. Maybe even put it on a premium website for a small fee, with the proceeds going to the Wildlife Aid..

@wildlifeaid 2 жыл бұрын
In general, 48 hours is the maximum 'safe' time where you can reunite a lost cub with mum without risk. It is possible after this (and we have done it in the past), but it requires much more monitoring and is usually avoided if possible :)

The other day, I was in the mood to rewatch the Wildlife Aid video where Simon rescues baby blue tits that had both their parents killed by predators because their nest was so close to the ground, but it seems to have been removed, along with some other clips from the original TV show. Is there a reason why clips from the original TV show have been removed? It's a real shame.

Foxes make horrific pets, they stink, they yell, they bite, they piss everywhere, theyre not cats, theyre not dogs theyre wild animals and will behave as wild animals Stealing a wild fox to keep as a pet is poaching and buying one is supporting the exotic pet trade which is horrific and does so much harm to the ecosystem and animal populations
