Love this content. -- thanks -- As Locals we forget which number each backcountry site is assigned...we call them by the names the old-timers used. Your site in the center of this vlog is one of our favorites. Sawdust Pile. -- back when the logging company had a mill for turning trees into lumber they hauled their waste into this flat spot a few miles up stream to assure "the pile" of sawdust would not be in their way years later while it rotted away. -- Then later - your next spot is Bone Valley -- one Winter a bunch of cows died during a brutal winter trapped in that spot. -- thus the name came along a few year after that.

I was there in mid july- last words I heard from The guy who dropped me off at the trailhead was "the yellow jackets can be a nuisance this time of year".... this was a serious understatement 😂.... but the stream was amazing

I seem to have a lot to say tonight... I completely relate to your hauling your pack (with food) up high between trees. A few years ago I had hiked into an alpine gulch with a lake full of greenback cutties in CO. I slept on the ground in a bivvy. Literally, as I woke up in the morning, a black bear was strolling by about 8m away. It had no idea I was there. 30 minutes later, I was sitting by the water's edge boiling some water I just filtered for breakfast and heard horrendous crashing through the timber on the far side of the small lake. Minutes later a bull moose emerges and starts drinking water - also with no idea I was there. All your videos remind me of my own outdoor fly fishing experiences. I hope to have many more. Thank you for your videos - love them! 🇨🇦

Pretty fish. Though my two creeks were smaller, Big Rock and Littlerock creeks on the north side of the San Gabriel mountains, the terrain and cover were similar. These are the waters where you REALLY learn how to cast.

The Jack's river or the Connasauga River (though I used to prefer the Jack's) in north west Georgia's Connasauga Wilderness area was always a great stream for natives back in the 70's and eighties (pretty big stream). Ellicott Rock wilderness at the juncture of Georgia, S.C. and N.C. was pretty good as well. Nantahala River was a fine fishery with mixture of natives and stockers. Had to be good at dodging rafts, kayaks and tubers though.

Very Nice! Great video! GSMNP lots of nice wild trout waters, keep beating those rhodies n laurels and fishin hard. Once in a while, once in a blue moon,... maybe drink a blue moon, you will be rewarded and hit a BIG Surprise 2 to 3 lb. 18 in. wild butter red dot brownie hiding n hanging out in bottom of deeper fishy looking hole. Brownies been getting fat eating bugs n wild bait fish. I know youre a dry dropper kinda guy but dont disregard chuckn a fat Sculpin or Dace imitation streamer down bottom! Good luck, keep fishing hard, tight lines! Keep up great videos!

@@guwop2234 I don't think many DNR's do unless it's some kind of survey...where the nubbed down fins come from is usually from being reared in crowded concrete raceways at hatcheries.

Drew, I really enjoyed that video! I plan to move from NJ to Tennessee within a year! Did you have Bear Mace? Great Job, keep em coming!
@dixieracingteam33512 жыл бұрын
Bear mace isn’t necessary, just be responsible and bear bag your trash you’ll be fine. Black bears aren’t any worse than NJ
@LooknFishy2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely...I'd say the black bears in the smokies are actually worse than many places bc they get use to campers leaving unclean camps. Infact there have been 3 or 4 attacks in this area over the last few years and sadly, one was fatal with the bear found actively feeding on a person and later confirmed to be responsible for his death. I realize it's not likely, but I'm a prepare for the worst and hope for the best...plus...what's the worst that can happen carry a few extra ounces....you might be that guy who needs it one day.
