Hello, I have followed you since your first video posting. I am older, and ailing now, so I don’t get out much. But, in my day, I fished Rayburn and Toledo Bend, in their, and in my prime. But, I started by crappie-fishing Lavon before it’s expansion in the late 70s. From there, my love of the outdoors grew. Now I just fish vicariously through your videos. I am a dedicated jig dude BUT there are times when they want MEAT and that's how you getrdone. I fish with a couple of dedicated minnow boys and I always outfish them by a lot but there have been a few days when things were slow for me I would take their dead minnows and put them on my jig as a trailer and start ketchn.

I ketch a lot of crappie and have friends who kick my butt and all of us always use plastics. Plus we are bank/dock guys and laugh at the guys who spend a fortune on big bass rigs and LS especially. We outfish them consistantly but that's just how we roll. I talk to those and they spend a lot of time getting their GPS and bluetooth going and batteries and maintaining their boats while we are fishing.

What is the best minnow rig for this type of fishing? Do you hook them in the lips or dorsal fin?

I typically use a 1/8th oz sliding egg weight pegged about 12 inches above a number 4(I think) Aberdeen hook. I hook them through the lips 👍🏼
