I think one way to buff ootd in the castle age is if you can place a relic in the Aachen for a +20 or even a +30% gather rate in it's area. That way you can have a eco boom when you most need it, and you can secure an advantage to go imp

Drongo, from a number perspective the Ootd archers are actually incredibly strong. Per resource you get slightly better dps, more range and a unit that deals damage even after loosing 50% of the hp (which 2 archers wouldnt as soon as one dies). So just from the stats, the Ootd archers are actually very powerful.

It's a pretty nuanced topic. You're right about that benefit, but they also don't waste as much of the enemies damage as overkill. I wonder, would equal resources of gilded archers beat normal archers?

i dont think that you will ever "figure out" the OoTD, byzantines had quirks to them you had to learn how to combine, but OotD is unsalvageable, they need a full rework

Not necessarily, Ootd starts with 200 wood and only need 100 of that before the age up and you usually don't use the 100 wood for anything. By faking a barracks you force your enemy to go for a barracks (and units) as well (at least as Malian), as they have to deal with you. And they don't start with so much wood, so even if both players just build a barracks and no units, the Ootd would be very happy with that and age up much faster than the malian

Every single Order unit just needs a massive damage buff, I wouldnt care about higher prices. Pop efficiency is their biggest problem and makes them so trash the further you get into the lategame.

I think, I get at least the point of the slower Villager production of OOTD, what the devs thought is: ,,If they have not as much villagers, they can't get raided as much, then other civilizations"! So I think that the Order of the Dragon is actually supposed to be THE anti-raid Civ..... XD

The gilded archers were getting deleted by javelin throwers the whole game though. That was the main reason the Order looked weak in this match I think, other than the Order doing the no wall challenge and giving away so many vills - they never really put together a unit comp that worked against donso javelin. Dragonscale leather lets gilded archers beat normal archers but they still lose badly to javelin throwers.

@@xeroprotagonistThey'll lose to Javs sure, but their dps is insane even against armored Sofa and it absolutely was not a wrong choice to go for them. Because Gilded Crossbows would trade even worse. OOTD lost because its eco is much weaker. Fayne forgetting to put up a Keep even though she had 900 stone in her bank probably didn't help either.

@@SleepyGaming-ie9fb I disagree, they have a 62.5% fire rate bonus compared to normal archers but with double the cost and only 1 extra damage per shot before elite, so they actually have really bad DPS for their price, especially against armored units. Their advantage is that they can take out large numbers of weak targets quicker with focus fire without overkilling as much because of their high fire rate, but against something like a Sofa that they aren't going to one-shot with those numbers, they aren't even as good as 2 regular archers would be. Gilded crossbows get enough of a damage boost against heavy units that they actually do get near double the damage against them compared to regular crossbows. But javelin throwers still counter both units too hard for them to be worth making here, I think. OotD's economy was weak because they lost so many vills, which happened because they were losing battles and getting pushed back into their base despite having higher army pop, which happened because they were making archers against javelin throwers.

Imagine Faye went meinwerk and didn’t have to wait for the extra wood to build a blacksmith, not halting spearmen and archer production and getting siege engineering sooner so when she attacked the gold pit Malian wouldn’t have so many javelins or had time to cowboom. With ootd you just gotta go, later the game goes the worse it is for you unless you’ve punished the opponent the entire game

Yeah I’ve been playing ootd and it you have to bring the feudal aggression because you can’t scale against other civs. I think they need a pretty big rework with alternative landmarks or a move the landmarks around in order.

Are you sure the Aachen Chapel's 10% gather rate isn't multiplicative with the base +25%? Because that +25% isn't a buff on a regular villager, the dragon villager is actually a different unit. I'd wager the +10% does apply to the whole base gather rate; so a total of not +35% but +37.5% compared to a regular villager, which is nearly as good as the regular Aachen Chapel, except it doesn't need a prelate. If that landmark was so bad, why would conq 3 players still go for it months after the expansion came out?

You can't really include the base 25% extra gathering rate as part of the Aachen chapel bonus though, so while it is correct to say they are collecting at 37.5% as much as a standard villager, you need to take into account that those vills are more expensive and take longer to build. I think that's where the devs went wrong. They tried to equalize it with the HRE gathering rate without taking other factors into consideration. People still go for that landmark because the alternative is arguably worse

OotD are fine. People just haven't figured out how to play them properly yet. I've got an 80% win rate. Abuse early upgrades in feudal and harass constantly. MOA can tc drop villagers with +1 armour and the 20% health bonus when on low life. Drop a second TC whilst harrassing. If it goes further than feudal, Castle knights/spears etc depending on your opponents unit choice.

Dragonorder needs to capitalize on their villagers. They are the strongest thing about the faction and pair nicley with the cheaper and stronger defensive buildings. Military units are comparatively stronger in the early game but stay strong through sheer production rate in the late game. Id like seeing gilded archers getting a slight buff to damage, but otherwise i think there is still alot of unseen potential in the faction
