Did you ever compared yourself with other artists? I'll reveal the reasons why this practice can be detrimental to your creativity and growth as an artist. Art is about the maker and when you start thinking from this perspective, competition seems absurd. Whether you're a painter, sculptor, digital artist, or any other creative soul, this video is designed to help you avoid falling into the same traps that I did in my artistic journey.

Such an honest video. I totally agree with you. We all have something amazing and wonderful to bring to the world with out art. It truly is not a competition. Social media is both good and dangerous in my opinion. Good because it gives us a way to communicate out into the world. Good because it lets us be a part of something bigger, a community of other artists likes us. Good because we get to meet other artist and make friends.. we all know that being an artist can be a bit lonely at times specially if we are freelance artists but sadly because of Social media we are able to see so many talent out there we are bound to sometimes feel unsure of our own work. Seeing how many followers, or likes someone has shouldn't be a way to measure success or happiness as an artist in my opinion. But like you very well said, we have to realize nobody can do what we can. Everyone has a unique voice. We just have to trust our art. Thank you for such a lovely video 💚

Very true. I'm in a place now where I constantly remind myself that other peoples art is non of my business and I only focus on or get inspiration from the type of art I want to emulate. It's a sort of elimination process. (Yes I know that inspiration can come from many places but you know what kind of art you like, you've always known... and every once in a while you might find something special but 90% of what's out there isn't for you. It's non of your business.) + If you really analyze your favorite artists, they probably only have 1/2 things that actually speak to you. Steal it move on ✌

I´d be more interested in painting myself as different artists from centuries ago just to study further how they thought. That would be better than to compare yourself with currently operating artists. Best wishes to you from Reykjavik, Iceland and happy 2024!!

I just wanted to thank you because I struggle a lot with those thoughts..😔And also, I really like your art, I've been following you for a long time on Instagram and would like to be an artist like you someday too, so don't think your art is not good enough because it is so much more than that🙂

Study your artist of choice and then try to see if you can copy his or her style, then try to create new works of art - based on this style, like the Odd Nerdrum school does. No need to compare yourself with this person. Instead, your friends start to compare you with this artist because they begin to notice that the two of you have similar art styles. One of my friends discovered that I draw a bit like Goya so he kept comparing me to him but I said I´m his student instead of trying to compare myself with him, which is better.

Perfeito! E como isso é difícil no começo, até porque não temos auto confiança em nós mesmos. E tudo isso acontece exatamente como colocou, as vezes parece que precisamos passar por isso para virar a chave e seguir o nosso estilo only!
