I don’t think people/men like this truly see women as people. There’s just the women who are extensions of themselves(mother, wife, daughter, sister). These women are obligated to serve them because of their personal connection but they’re also reflection of him so their image cannot be tarnished. Then there’s all other women. These women can be used and discarded because they’re not real people unless they’re personally connected to him. Their lives can’t be as meaningful and complex as his if he’s not in them.

ive seen so much of this happen to know that anyone that puts so much emphasis & builds their entire identity around a single issue (race, gender, etc.) to show how great or morally superior they are, are likely just using it as a front and to compensate for the real, terrible behavior. I mean, Ned Fulmer's a prime example. He put so much identity into being a family, wife-loving man and look how that turned out. Or the many examples of people that put a sexist remark then say they're all about gender equality.

Would a PR firm EVER have access to someone's actual email account in this way? Does that even make sense?
@withcindy Жыл бұрын
maybe they do when that person is also the co-founder of said PR firm

OMG, that email that you got feels like something written in a bad novel. How do people have this much confidence?

What really gets to me is the way it says like, "Barker will review each video, triggering payment" and that you're "free to post" only AFTER the video is submitted to him directly. Like... Not payed for publishing the video (ie actually *advertising* the book), literally payed for sending a spicy video directly to him - like clearly this whole stunt was never about advertising to begin with, but if that's not a smoking gun I don't know what is

this is such a small thing but the "10-15 seconds of footage of the influencer holding or pointing to the book" is insane, that is such a long amount of time to do that! Just no concept of what makes for good advertising on even the smallest level. My "men who write dark/sexual thrillers are generally creeps" belief remains unchanged

perhaps the most offensive part of the email is the terrible ideas itself

every time i hear about this kinda book drama im always reminded of the tweet "whenever you get in a twitter beef with someone it's only a matter of time before someone starts talking like sephiroth in your replies." because ive yet to hear of an author acting normal after criticism

It's always amazing to me how when a person is given an opportunity or blessing, they somehow find a way to mess it up.
