Also would be remiss if I did not mention this. Having a turtle shell of that size is akin to having a rhino horn or elephant tusk. They are heavily poached creatures under extreme threat yet are so vital to the fisheries of Ghana. I live in Prampram and are working hard with the community to stop this…… sea turtles are the sacred totems of most Ga Dangbe communities in Ghana because they know the intrinsic importance of this animal and it is sacred. Unfortunately recent migrants to Greater Accra do not have this knowledge and are irresponsible.
