My preference is - cooked whole (headed and gutted). You can peel a cooked fillet from the fish to eat. That allows access to the cooked spine which can be removed . Then eat the remaining fillet. There are some bones left, however gar bones are quite soft and easily eaten. I have never had a bone caught in my throat with this method.

It’s two amps in GarageBand - one with a little gain, the second cleaner with tremelo and short delay.
