I started the Milk Washed Tea Vodka this morning and I opted for tea bags over loose tea hoping to save myself a step. I based the number of tea bags on an average of 2 gm per bag and I did steep for 45 minutes since this is what I usually do when making iced tea. Cheers 🍹

I’ll find the crew bottles and try this. Looks like a great summer party martini

I am happy to report that this came out fantastic!! I used Darjeeling Tea so my infusion came out lighter than yours. I am going to make so much more with other types of tea. I will have to say, try not to stir the milk washing too much as it makes it too cloudy and you are going to have to filter it multiple times.

Thats good to hear! I must say when I did it with a mango black tea I really loved it.

Where did you find the storage bottle featured in this video? Great content !!
@makeanddrink Жыл бұрын
They’re called “crew” bottles. Not cheap and have only had them a few weeks but I really like the smaller “chubby” bottles so far.

Looks good. I don't drink vodka, and don't have any. What do you think about rum instead?
@makeanddrink Жыл бұрын
I don’t see any reason why that would not be delicious as well.

@ make and drink what black tea did you use? And was it loose or did you open black tea bags?
@makeanddrink Жыл бұрын
I used a black tea, probably Lipton, and it was bagged tea that I removed from the bag. You could do loose here too and I would have, just didn't have any on had at the time. I made this once with the Mango Black Tea from Trader Joe's and like that better.

REALLY excited to try this one for the Masters! I usually make my honey syrup with a honey to water ratio of 3:1; wonder if that will throw off the flavor. Did you have to refrigerate the final product or anything during the milk washing process, or is it safe to make and keep it all at room temp?
@makeanddrink Жыл бұрын
The book doesn’t specify if it’s stable at room temp. While I think it is, I’ve always kept it in the fridge. As for the honey it really shouldn’t matter what ratio you use but obviously it would be sweeter with yours so you may want to taste it and go with less.
@ryankelly2026 Жыл бұрын
The original recipe was much too boozy for me. I made a 2:1 honey syrup, and used: 2oz vodka 1oz honey syrup 1oz lemon juice This was a much more balanced cocktail for. Cheers!

Do you think the tea/milk wash would translate to a hibiscus tea? Im trying to Tea Time-ify the Starbucks passion tea lemonade
@makeanddrink Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure. I’ve only made Hibsicus tea a couple times and can’t remember how tannin heavy it is. It would work, but it may strip some of then color. Worth trying in a small amount to see how it goes.

I’ll give it a shot and let you know! Thanks!

It worked great! I only did 250ml of vodka, so I halved everything else. I think the passion tea is much more acidic than black tea - it started curdling immediately, so maybe the lemon wasn’t necessary. As for the cocktail - I swapped your honey syrup for a semi rich simple. I was blown away by how good the passion tea vodka was. The drink was great - tart and complex - and as a standalone, it works. Im going to play with the lemon and simple ratios to see if I can better replicate the Starbucks drink. Thanks for the help and the videos!

Could be fun to do an Earl Grey infused vodka and Italicus cocktail

Let’s do it!

Wonder if earl gray is too overpowering (for this cocktail) since it’s already treated with bergamotte oil? It’s the only loose black tea I have on hand though 😂 Great video!

Can the tea vodka spoil? Does it have an expiration date?
@makeanddrink Жыл бұрын
Not totally sure. The tea may lose flavor over time and the milk properties that help it foam will definitely diminish over time. I tend to keep mine in the fridge and only for a few weeks.
