I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada & back in the days before late 2000s Niagara Falls actually had a bus with 2 individual components. The lead component with a driver & a trailer without a driver's cab. Unlike a 60 ft Articulated bus where you can access the rear by walking through the accordians, the trailer component was coupled with the lead component & the only way to access the rear was only from the outside just like it is seen here.

The bus in Niagara Falls was an "Orion IV" in case anyone wants to look up pictures.

My hometown in Switzerland had these "trains" for several years, but they replaced them with double-articulated trolleybuses (because of a very high demand). These trolleybuses are from the same manufacturer as the carriage is in this video: Hess, a swiss bus brand

Its a bus with a double-axle caravan that has bus doors and bus interiors So I imagine that these buses would only go 40mph, is a huge road hogger, has side mirrors that stretch further than a limo, and is a great accommodation for camps

A very old-fashioned way to increase bus capacity. Many years ago this was normal throughout Europe. Munich is probably one of the last places where you can still see it.

im a bus driver in the netherlands, im probaby not allowed to drive it, as the law sees it as a "trailer" so i'd need drivers license D-E. I am allowed to drive articulated buses, because, for the roadlaws, it's seen as 1 vehicle (so no trailer)

@@glitchFan2428 I feel like these could turn sharper corners too. Like towing a trailer with any other vehicle, usually you can turn as tight as the towing vehicle can, (exception being tractors and the like, tow hitch on the rear axle so the tyres can catch on the trailed implement if you turn too tight), but it looks like these have dual steering axles, so these can go on the same routes as the regular single decker towing it as it will follow the path of its rear axle, whereas bendy buses are limited to how tight they can turn, as we found out when Belfast, Northern Ireland got their 'gliders'. A driver used to non-articulating buses took a junction like they would in their previous bus and got it stuck when they steered too tightly for the rear section to follow, possibly reversed too to jackknife it, and brought the whole area to a standstill. The local authorities thought they could just put the drivers into the bendy buses without any additional training. :)
@MixShadowlight2 жыл бұрын
@@markwright3161 in a way, yes, these could take tighter corners. Although one not used to driving a vehicle with a trailer will still jackknife on this bustrain (yes, hess literally calls this a bustrain!) too upon reversing. Interestingly, these in the 60s and 70s were more popular than bendy buses. But they fell out of favor because from what I read the reliability of the couple joints and how the joints poses safety issues to pedestrians.
