Let's not be so shallow to overlook how 99% mumbaikars or indians live in rented homes or how they get by paying EMI to the bank each month. This is not the norm but just a very rare exception so let's not be so pretentious!

Why are you mixing these luxury purchases with the LTCG topic? Do you think these tycoons bought these houses for investment or tax saving purposes?? They simply need to have a better place to live but unfortunately there are very few places in India where elite classes can live comfortably. Hence they are paying such huge premiums for an apartment (not even bungalow) They must already have lavish mansions in the UK, US sprawled in acres of land that too in lower prices than these mumbai flats. But due to the ridiculous real estate system in India, from rich to middle class everyone is paying a minimum of 5 times extra price than normal. Ideally channels like you should help in some ways to sort this rubbish system but on the contrary you are promoting it saying this is such a Smart Move!!

Capital gains deduction limit should be brought down from Rs 10 crore to Rs 2 crore. Real estate have become heaven to park black money and convert it to white.
